A solenoid for an electric starter. The solenoid has a metal case that contains a coil winding assembly. The coil winding assembly includes a plastic coil spool that carries a pull-in coil and a hold-in coil. One end of the coil spool supports a plurality of axially extending metallic threaded studs that are insert molded into the end of the coil spool. The end leads of the coils are wrapped around the studs and welded thereto. The studs, together with nuts that are threaded onto the threaded portions of studs, serve to secure a plastic cover to an end of the metal case.

Solenoid for electric starters

An actuator for selectively actuating a circular array of electric switches. The actuator includes a molded plastic rotor part that contains particles of magnetic material. One portion of the rotor is magnetized to provide a permanent magnet that is effective to attract a switch actuating arm that is pivoted to the rotor. Another tubular portion of the rotor is magnetized to provide the rotor of an electric stepper motor. The stepper motor rotates the rotor to various positions. The arm can be attracted by an electromagnet and pivoted to a position in which it operates one of the circular array of switches.

Switch actuator for a remote control unit

A fan assembly has a sealing ring which rotatably fits with a similar feature on a machine casting when the fan is assembled to the machine to provide a labyrinth type seal which is maintained over a wide variation and axial gap to inhibit the flow of air bypassing the normal flow through the machine so that the fan pumps greater quantities of air through the machine for improved cooling of all elements therein.
