Toy motorcycle

A toy motorcycle is mounted on and supported by a front wheel and a driven rear wheel which is heavy enough to act as a flywheel. A pull string mechanism includes a spring biased spring spool having a gear, with a step-up gear train imposed between the spool gear and the rear driven wheel. A centrifugally operated pawl mechanism is driven by the gear train to couple with ratchet teeth formed on the rear wheel in order to drive the rear wheel in one direction and to decouple from the ratchet teeth when the gear train is driven in the opposite direction during string recoil. The rear wheel has a greater moment of inertia than the other components of the pull string drive mechanism to enable the rear wheel to function as a flywheel and thereby store energy to drive the motorcycle. A reed is positioned to be plucked by a rotating cam to produce sound.

Self-contained and self-propelled toy vehicle

A toy wheeled vehicle has a chassis which can be adapted to receive almost any style of vehicle body. The vehicle contains an elongated coiled spring enclosed within a tube having a substantially rectangular cross section. The vehicle has a keyhole aligned with the tube in the trunk area. The key hole and the tube have a guideway slot formed therein. This slot, together with the rectangular cross section, insures a properly aligned key, at the time of key insertion. The key includes a pair of leaf spring-like, spaced parallel plate members joined on each end and held in a separated position by a spacer post or pin positioned near the operational or handle end of the key. When the key is inserted into the tube, the coiled spring is compressed. A latch on the key fits and locks into a keeper in the tube to hold the spring in the compressed condition. When the spaced parallel key plate members are squeezed together, the latch is forced out of the keeper, and the car shoots out and across a table top, floor, or other suitable flat surfaces, as the compressed spring is released.

Toy vehicle

A toy has an enclosure pierced by a plurality of holes, each hole being in the shape of a distinctive geometry. A plurality of blocks are shaped to pass through only individually associated ones of the holes. Inside the housing, a balanced panel receives the blocks as they pass through the holes. When the cumulative weight of all blocks on the panel equals or exceeds a spring bias, the balance panel tips and performs a surprise function. In the disclosed embodiment, the surprise is a toy cow popping through a door and the blocks discharged out the back is both a surprise and a reward.
