A sealant composition especially useful for stopping punctures in vehicle tires includes: (a) a viscous fluid such as propylene glycol or polypropylene glycol; (b) one or more fibrous materials such as cellulose, wool, nylon, rayon, hair, wollastonite, rock-wool, glass wool fibers, polyester, polypropylene, or other material of like nature; and (c) flat plate-like particles, such as mica. In one embodiment, the composition is too viscous to be readily passed through a pneumatic tire valve stem, so the viscous product is installed into the tire while the tire is dismounted from the wheel. In another embodiment, the composition is made of two parts, each of which is sufficiently low in viscosity to pass readily through the valve stem, but which react on mixing inside the tire form a liquid of higher viscosity.

Tire sealant composition

A composition of matter comprising at least 2% by weight of a fibrous material and at least 30% by weight of a binding material such that the composition can be melt-molded into articles which have mechanical strength sufficient for their intended uses and which are biodegradable. The binding material is formed of natural substance and may also include up to 30% by weight synthetic, water-soluble polymer. The fibrous material may be cellulose and/or mineral fibers which provide the attributes of reinforcement and degradability. The composition may further include up to 20% by weight liquid or solid plasticizer which serves to lower melt viscosity and add toughness to the composite material.

Moldable composition of matter

A sealant composition especially useful for porous materials such as wood, concrete and mansonry is provided comprising: (a) a silanol-terminated polysiloxane having a molecular weight greater than about 2000; (b) a multifunctional silane having functional groups which condense with silanol groups in the presence of atmospheric moisture at room temperature to form a cross-linked polymer; and (c) a nonaqueous volatile solvent which is non-reactive with components (a) and (b). The sealant composition renders said materials waterproof by coating and filling in the pores of said material with cured silicone rubber product. In a preferred embodiment the composition also contains a metal-containing curing catalyst and a volatile or subliming chelating agent in an amount sufficient to prevent cure of the composition in the storage container prior to or during use. The composition may also comprise adhesion agents, surfactants and pigments.

In a process for beneficiating one or more mineral values of sulfide ores by treating the sulfide ore with a metal containing compound under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a separation between the values and gangue, the improvement comprising pretreating the sulfide ore by heating it to a temperature of at least about 80.degree. C. for at least about 0.1 hours.

One or more mineral values of sulfide ores are beneficiated by cotreating the sulfide ore with a metal containing compound and a reducing gas under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a physical separation between the values and gangue.

In a process for beneficiating one or more mineral values of sulfide ores and/or metal oxide ores selected from the group consisting of bauxite, taconite, apatite, titanium oxides and the metal oxides of Groups IIIB, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB, VIIIB, IB, IIB and IVA by treating the ore with a metal containing compound under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a separation between the values and gangue, the improvement comprising removing at least a portion of any elemental sulfur present from the ore prior to the treatment with a metal containing compound.

One or more mineral values of metal oxide ores selected from the group consisting of bauxite, taconite, apatite, titanium oxides and the metal oxides of Groups, IIIB, IVB, VB VIB, VIIB, VIIIB, IB, IIB and IVA are beneficiated by treating the ore with a metal containing compound under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a physical separation between the values and gague.

One or more mineral values of sulfide ores are beneficiated by treating the sulfide ore with a metal containing compound under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a physical seaparation between the values and gangue.

A process for beneficiating particulate gold from non-magnetic foreign material with which it is mixed which comprises contacting the mixture with an iron carbonyl in order to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the gold particles so that a magnetic separation between the gold and foreign material may be effected.

In a process for beneficiating one or more mineral values of a metal oxide ore selected from the group consisting of bauxite, taconite, chrysocolla, apatite, titanium oxides and the metal oxides of Groups IIIB, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB, VIIIB, IB, IIB and IVA by treating the ore with a metal containing compound, preferably iron carbonyl, under conditions such as to selectively enhance the magnetic susceptibility of the mineral values to the exclusion of the gangue in order to permit a separation between the values and gangue, the improvement comprising pretreating the metal oxide ore by heating it to a temperature of at least about 80.degree. C. for a time period of at least about 0.1 hours.

Raw coal is improved by reacting it with a metal containing compound selected from the group consisting of organic iron containing compounds which exert sufficient vapor pressure, with iron as a component in the vapor, so as to bring the iron into contact with the impurity at the reaction temperature, organic iron containing compounds in solution at the injection temperature, solid organic iron containing compounds capable of being directly mixed in solid form at the mixing temperature with the coal, and ferrous chloride, ferric chloride, and alkyl aluminum compounds, in order to enhance the magnetic susceptibility of certain impurities, e.g., pyrite and ash-forming minerals contained in the raw coal, thereby permitting the removal of these impurities by magnetic means.
