A thermplastic molding composition is disclosed which contains a homogeneous blend of a polycarbonate resin, an olefin-acrylate rubber terpolymer impact modifier and a flame retardant package which contains a fluorinated polyolefin, a halogenated phthalimide and an oligomeric carbonate. The composition was found to be suitable for preparing molded articles having an excellent level of flame resistance and impact properties.

Flame retardant polycarbonate composition having improved impact strength

A thermoplastic molding composition is disclosed which contains a homogeneous blend of a polycarbonate resin, a graft-modified olefin rubber and, a particular flame retardant package containing a salt, halogenated phthalimine, polytetrafluoroethylene and an oligomeric carbonate. The composition was found to be suitable for preparing molded articles having an excellent level of flame resistance and impact properties.

A thermoplastic molding composition containing an aromatic polycarbonate resin, a flame retarding package and an impact modifier is disclosed. The impact modifier is a maleic anhydride-functionalized block copolymer which consist of polystyrene endblock and poly(ethylene/butylene) midblocks. Characterized in its improved impact performance and flame retardance, the composition is suitable for the manufacture of molded articles of improved properties.

Flame retardant polycarbonate compositions

A molding composition comprising a polycarbonate resin and plating modifier was found to be suitable for preparing metal coated articles where the metal coating is deposited by an electroless process. The plating modifier in accordance with the invention is at least one member selected from the group consisting of a polyanhydride, and a monovinyl aromatic-acrylonitrile copolymer. An advantageous embodiment of the invention includes incorporating in the molding composition a flame retarding amount of a conventional flame retarding agent for polycarbonate compositions.

Polycarbonate molding compositions

The present invention is directed to flame retardant, pigmented polycarbonate molding compositions which properties include both good flame resistance properties and virtual freedom from streaking. The compositions are particularly suitable for use in molding machines using hot runner tools. The composition of the invention comprise a thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonate resin, a flame retarding agent, pigments, polytetrafluoroethylene--ASTM Type 3--and an amount of finely divided hydrophobic silicon dioxide sufficient for providing streaking-free molded articles.

Pigmented, flame resistant polycarbonate compositions

The present invention is directed to a thermoplastic molding composition comprising a polycarbonate resin and a pigmenting amount of black iron oxide. The invention is predicated on the surprising findings that this composition yields stable, streaking-free molded articles. A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a flame retarding agent and iron oxide based pigment selected from the group consisting of black iron oxide and red iron oxide, said flame retarding agent comprising polytetrafluoroethylene; the composition is characterized in that it is streaking-free and in that its flammability rating is at least 5V-1/8' in accordance with UL-94.

Iron oxide pigmented, polycarbonate compositions

The present invention is directed to a continuous process for the preparation of copolycarbonates of sulfonyl diphenol (SDP) containing at least about 15, preferably about 15 to about 80 percent by weight of SDP and characterized in the particular system catalyzing the process reaction. The invention thus entails improvements and modifications to the known interfacial polycondensation process rendering it applicable to the preparation of copolycarbonates containing a high level of SDP comprising a combination of catalysts namely a phase transfer catalyst and a condensation catalyst.
