A fail-safe system for use on a hydraulic piloted pressure reducing and regulating valve for holding the valve at the last selected operating pressure in the event of loss of control signals. A pressure regulating valve having a body and a control piston therein is provided with a pilot piston in the body which is adapted to be connected to and responsive to a hydraulic signal pilot pressure. A segmented locking ring surrounds the assembly and coacting concentric V-shaped locking grooves are provided between the locking ring and the assembly for locking the assembly. The segmented ring is biased towards an unlocked position. An annular cam ring engages the exterior of the locking ring. Coacting wedge surfaces between the cam ring and the locking ring are provided for locking and releasing the locking ring. The cam ring is biased for urging the coacting wedge surfaces into engagement. A release piston engages the cam ring for moving the cam ring in a direction to disengage the coacting wedge surfaces upon the application of release pressure.

Fail-safe fluid piloted valve positioner with hydromechanical position

An override cartridge for a solenoid operated fluid valve provides convenient conversion of a valve to include or exclude a mechanical override feature. The disclosed construction comprises a tubular cartridge body containing the override, with the tubular body having a screw thread connection to the valve. Other features are also disclosed.

Solenoid valve override cartridge

A pressure reducing and regulating valve which is operated to move a seal container between an inlet, outlet and vent port in response to fluid pressure. One feature allows the valve to be mounted on a subplate in which both the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure pass through a porting plate which provides a hold down force to compensate for the forces acting to separate the porting plate from the subplate mounting and thus prevent seal extrusion. Another feature of the present invention is the provision of force flow compensating holes which reduce hammering or chattering of the regulating valve.

Pressure reducing and regulating valve

A pressure reducing and regulating valve having a body with a body cavity and a seal container movable in the cavity. The container includes primary and vent seals. At least one flow plate is positioned in the body adjacent the container and includes primary, secondary and vent ports. The improved seal container has the primary and vent seals positioned in the container on opposite sides of the central axis of the container, allowing the container and thus the body to be of a smaller size, thereby reducing the pressure forces applied against the interior of the body. The primary and vent seals are spaced on opposite sides of the central axis at locations for reducing the side loading forces acting around the central axis as the container is moved. An adjustable screw engages a spring for adjusting the pressure flow through the valve and the screw includes one or more metal washers on each side of a shoulder on the screw coated with low friction material whereby the shoulder can be easily backed off from engagement with the body.

A pressure reducing and regulating valve having a container with a plurality of openings for moving between first and second flow plates having a plurality of inlet ports and a plurality of outlet ports for providing multiple flow paths through the valve for providing maximum flow with a short regulating stroke. The valve may be actuated by a combination of a manual screw adjustment and/or a powered operated overdrive which utilize drive gear to provide a failsafe operation as the power overdrive maintains the regulated pressure even if the pilot source fails. Valve means and stop means control the extent of travel of the adjustment screw. An integral pilot operated bypass valve may be utilized for remotely controlling the actuation of the valve.

Solenoid operated directional valves are disclosed which have a modular construction wherein electrical connections between component parts are made integral and concurrent with the act of mounting the component parts together. The modular construction means that no separate lead wires are required to be connected between the component parts. The modular construction: reduces the time required to assemble valves in the factory; facilitates installation and maintenance procedures in the field; permits optional features to be selectively incorporated into or removed from valves in a non-destructive waste-free fashion; and essentially eliminates the possibility of improperly connecting electrical circuits within valves.

A solenoid operated directional valve 10 that has cushioning chambers 48 and 50 into which the attenuation elements 52 and 54 on the ends of the spool 38 are received for cushioning the movement of the spool, and a transfer loop 56 through which fluid can travel during the cushioning operation, characterized in that the attenuation elements are constructed and arranged so that they will function to purge air or other gaseous fluids from the cushioning chambers and the transfer loop as an incident to reciprocal movement of the spool.

A solenoid operated directional valve with a valve body provided with a bore that has axially spaced annuli, a mounted surface with ports arranged in a pattern of standard configuration, and ducts extending from the ports to the annuli to provide passageways for flow of fluid, and a spool mounted for movement axially in said bore for controlling flow of fluid through said passageways, the passageways being formed in a unique manner in said body so that a minimum pressure drop occurs in the fluid flowing through each passageway.

A solenoid operated directional valve 10 with detent means 48, 50 for retaining the spool 38 of the valve in selected positions, the detent means being operatively associated with the solenoid pins 44, 46 for holding one or the other of the pins in a selected position for retaining the spool in a selected position, said detent means being constructed and arranged to provide detent disengagement forces of uniform magnitude and having components that can be manufactured at relatively low cost.

Solenoid operated directional valves are disclosed requiring minimum labor costs for original manufacture, installation at sites of use and subsequent maintenance and repair, which have electrical apparatus for actuating the solenoids, including improved terminal blocks mounted on the valve body and electrical plugs and associated junction boxes by which electrical power is supplied to the terminal block for delivery to the appropriate solenoid, the terminal block and electrical plugs having electrical connectors to enable the electrical plug and junction box to be mounted in more than one position with respect to the terminal block while providing continuity of operation of the solenoids, ground connections and lamp indicator means.

A wet plunger type solenoid primarily for use with hydraulic valves adapted for high pressure hydraulic fluid systems, the armature assembly being constructed so that a stainless steel armature tube can be employed to provide a strong plunger chamber that will withstand high pressures of the hydraulic fluid, and the armature tube and the associated yoke and stop pieces at the ends of the plunger chamber are arranged so that the non-magnetic tube does not cause an 'air gap' in the magnetic fluid of the solenoid, thereby allowing the solenoid to operate at lower electrical loads and temperatures.

A solenoid operated directional valve with detent means for retaining the spool of the valve in either of two selected positions, the detent means being operatively associated with the solenoid pins for holding one or the other of the pins in a selected position and thereby for retaining the spool in a selected position in the absence of any direct connection between the detent means and the spool, the detent means further being located out of the flow-passageways of the valve so as to preclude interference with fluid flow and being constructed and arranged to provide detent disengagement forces of uniform low limits and with no side loads applied on the spool, and to contain no loose parts and to have a near infinite life.

Apparatus for assembling a complete modular valve system, including modules containing manifold blocks in which are mounted valves, such as flow controls, checks, pressure reducers and reliefs, the modules being sandwich mounted between a directional valve and a standard subplate for use in conjunction with hydraulic cylinders and the like, and the valves being arranged in the manifold blocks so that multiple-function modules can be provided.
