A portable, modular blood analyzer capable of analyzing multiple blood values in an inexpensive, relatively simple, easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain instrument. The invention comprises a three-part system including an analyzer body, calibrant cartridge, and sensor cartridge. A modular calibrant cartridge is insertable into the analyzer body, and contains all necessary calibrant fluids as well as a waste container. A modular sensor cartridge having integral pump tubing plugs into the analyzer body for easy removal and replacement of the sensor elements. The analyzer body internally has modular units including an electronics module, a display module, and a fluidics/printer module. The analyzer uses a single pump head to aspirate blood only to a sensor array within the sensor cartridge. This action is accomplished by aspirating blood by rotating an peristaltic pump in one direction during a first portion of an analysis cycle, and by reversing the pump and flushing the blood from the sensor cartridge with fluid pumped from the opposite direction during a second portion of an analysis cycle. Accordingly, blood contacts only a small portion of the analyzer mechanism, most of which is disposable. Because all valves are 'downstream' from the single pump, no blood products pass through any valves. The analyzer fluid handling section is easily cleaned by removal of the sensor cartridge, yielding a single tube pathway. A short path length for blood travel permits using blood samples as small as 200 .mu.l. The analyzer is light-weight and modular in design and is fully automatic.

A syringe assembly for an inflation control system having a mounting head at one end is pivotally mounted in a mounting bracket for engagement with a drive arm. The mounting bracket is stationary in relation to the drive arm of the system. The mounting head includes a lateral projection on each of its sides having a shape and size selected for pivotal engagement with notches formed in side walls of the mounting bracket. The handle of the syringe plunger includes a driver retainer for capturing the drive arm in the longitudinal directions so that the longitudinal plunger movement is controlled by the drive arm. Neither the retainer nor the drive arm limits movement in the normal direction so that the syringe can be easily separated from the drive arm by an operator. A clamp secures the syringe barrel in the normal direction. Overcoming the force of the clamp is facilitated by the mechanical advantage provided by the pivotal mounting arrangement of the syringe assembly.

A dual liquid spraying assembly comprises an outer container containing at least two separate compartments for two different liquids, a spray pump dispenser for mounting on the outlet of the container, and a valve assembly mounted between the compartments and the spray pump dispenser for controlling the proportions of the different liquids dispensed. The valve assembly comprises an inner valve member having a discharge outlet for connection to the spray pump dispenser and at least two inlets for connection to the respective compartments, and an outer, control sleeve rotatably mounted on the inner valve member for controlling connection of the inlets to the outlet. Both the inner and outer valve members are releasably secured on the outlet of the container to extend co-axially with the outlet opening.

A backcountry ski binding having a boot-receiving frame (10) and a climbing attachment (40) is detachably mountable (24, 26) upon a ski and convertible between a plurality of climbing modes (L) and a stored mode (C). The frame includes adjustable rear support means (28) that permit free heel operation at a plurality of boot positions to accommodate slopes of differing grade. The climbing attachment is pivotal about a main mounting pin and has an articulated plate (42) and arm (44) so that a climbing scoop (46) can be moved between not only the plurality of different climbing positions, but also between those positions and the stored position. Locking means (56, 58) are included to releasably and selectively lock the scoop in these positions.
