A method of verifying swelling of a swellable material in a well can include connecting a transmitter to a sensor which senses a parameter indicative of degree of swelling of the swellable material, and conveying a receiver into an interior of a tubular string. The transmitter transmits to the receiver an indication of the degree of swelling of the swellable material. A packer swelling verification system can include a swellable material which swells in a well, and a well tool which is conveyed to the packer in the well. The well tool receives an indication of a degree of swelling of the swellable material. A method of verifying whether a swellable material has swollen in a well can include positioning a conductor proximate the swellable material, whereby the conductor parts in response to swelling of the swellable material, and detecting whether the conductor has parted.

Verification of swelling in a well

A swellable packer for use with a subterranean well can include a swellable seal having a circumferentially extending recess formed on a surface of the seal. Another swellable packer can include a swellable seal having a helically extending recess formed in the seal. A method of constructing a swellable packer can include forming a circumferentially extending recess on a surface of a swellable seal.

Swellable packer with enhanced anchoring and/or sealing capability

System and methods for effectively and efficiently cementing a casing annulus are disclosed. A packer system includes an outer case, a landing collar within the outer case and a slidable shifting sleeve coupled to the landing collar. The landing collar and the shifting sleeve are movable. A connecter coupled to the shifting sleeve and is movable in a movement slot with the shifting sleeve. A rubber element is coupled at one end to the connector and is on an outside surface of the outer case. The displacement of the connector in the movement slot compresses the rubber element.

Super shoe swell packer

Methods and devices useful in subterranean treatment operations are provided. One example of a device is a dart having a deformable body, a nosepiece connected to a lower terminus of the deformable body, and a channel extending through the deformable body and the nosepiece. One example of a method includes providing a dart, providing a production casing having at least one production sleeve therein, placing the dart in the production casing of a well bore, pumping a treatment fluid into the well bore, and allowing the dart to open the production sleeve within the production casing such that the treatment fluid is introduced into the subterranean formation through the production casing.

Wiper darts for subterranean operations

A downhole tool apparatus for insertion into and sealing engagement with a wellbore. The downhole tool includes upper and lower casing engaging members and an intervening sealing member. In one aspect the intervening sealing member may be a deformable material. In another aspect, the intervening sealing member may be a flowable material cured in the well bore.

Downhole sealing tools and method of use

A downhole tool apparatus for insertion into and sealing engagement with a wellbore. The apparatus comprises a tube having an expandable diameter, and a gripping member joined to the tube adapted to engage a portion of the wellbore to limit movement of the tube within the wellbore. The tube may also include a sealing member adapted to mate with the wellbore to form a sealing engagement.

A retrievable bridge plug assembly having an internal &ldquo;pump through&rdquo; bypass passage and a wedge assembly, slips and seals disposed thereon. A retrieving tool is provided for running, setting, releasing and retrieving the bridge plug assembly. A tubing sensor is included to prevent setting of the bridge plug assembly in improper size tubing. When the bridge plug is properly located, the wedge assembly can actuated by manipulation of the retrieving tool to force the slips radially outward into gripping engagement with the well tubular and to force the seals into sealing engagement with the well tubular. A ball valve on the bridge plug assembly is movable to selectively open and close the bypass passage. The retrieving tool can maintain the valve and passageway open to facilitate circulation during run in and setting and also open during retrieving for pressure equalization. A service packer can be connected to and run with the bridge plug assembly.
