A refrigerator appliance includes a cabinet that defines an opening with a plurality of racks mounted in the cabinet. A door is mounted to the cabinet at the opening. A divider is configured to separate the cabinet into a first cabinet portion and a second cabinet portion. The divider includes an insulation block with a top cover mounted to the insulation block. The top cover includes a top foil heater. Also included in the divider is a bottom cover mounted to the insulation block. The bottom cover includes a bottom foil heater. A plastic extrusion is mounted to a side of the insulation block, and the top cover and the bottom cover include a forming on at least two sides. The forming of the top and bottom covers engages with the plastic extrusion.

Systems for heat leak prevention in refrigerator appliances

A refrigeration appliance includes a cabinet having a plurality of walls that define a chilled chamber, a door attached to the cabinet to selectively restrict access to the chilled chamber, a cooling system for providing cool air to the chilled chamber via a duct extending through a wall of the plurality of walls of the chilled chamber, and at least one air vent positioned at an end of the duct. Further, the air vent(s) is mounted to the wall. Moreover, the air vent(s) has a body defining an opening through which the cool air exits during operation of the refrigeration appliance. The body of the air vent(s) further defines an outer perimeter having at least one discontinuity that creates at least one airflow passage between the body and the wall to reduce moisture in the chilled chamber.

A refrigerator appliance includes a liner positioned within a cabinet and a mullion positioned within the liner to define a fresh food chamber and a freezer chamber. One or more doors provide selective access to these chambers and are covered by an appearance panel, such as a cabinetry panel. An air pocket is defined between the appearance panel and the liner or mullion, and a heat transfer feature is positioned within the air pocket for increasing a surface area for thermal energy transfer, thereby reducing cool spots and potential condensation within the air pocket or on surfaces defining the air pocket.

An ice maker and ice bin are provided on the inside of a freezer door of a refrigerator. The ice maker is compact, and the bin is removably mounted to the door. Ice is made by the ice maker on the door, and discharged into the ice bin, which then feeds the ice to an ice dispenser when the dispenser is actuated by a person.

A refrigerated unit is well suited for storing fruits and vegetables. A household-sized refrigerated unit includes a storage space for retaining fruits and vegetables. The temperature within the storage space is controllable within a range of approximately 40-65 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity level within the storage space is regulated to prevent unnecessary desiccation of the fruit and vegetables, and to prevent excessive condensation. The unit is provided with a mechanism for regulating the level of ethylene gas within the storage space to either retard or accelerate ripening, as desired.

An improved icemaker is provided for a refrigerator. The improvements include tilting the ice mold to assure that the ice cavity nearest the thermostat is filled with water; controlling air flow to the mold to promote rapid freezing of water in the mold cavities; raising the perimeter walls of the mold to minimize water spillage; and providing hooks on the mold for routing electrical wires.
