The invention relates to Chydrocarbon conversion. More particularly, the invention relates to separating a vapor phase product and a liquid phase product from a heated mixture that includes steam and Chydrocarbons, catalytically cracking the liquid phase product and steam cracking the vapor phase product.

Process for Chydrocarbon conversion

In a process for converting C+ aromatic hydrocarbons to lighter aromatic products a feed comprising C+ aromatic hydrocarbons is contacted under transalkylation reaction conditions with a catalyst composition comprising (i) a first molecular sieve selected from the group consisting of ZSM-12, mordenite and a porous crystalline inorganic oxide material having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07 and 3.42&#xb1;0.07; and (ii) a second molecular sieve having a constraint index ranging from 3 to 12. At least the first molecular sieve has a hydrogenation component associated therewith and the first and second molecular sieves are contained in the same catalyst bed. The C+ aromatic hydrocarbons are converted under the transalkylation reaction conditions to a reaction product containing xylene.

Using a catalyst having two different zeolites for transalkylation of a C9+ aromatic feed

A process for controlling the hydrogenation activity of a catalyst comprised of a crystalline molecular sieve and at least one hydrogenation metal selected from the group consisting of a Group VIIB metal, a Group VIII metal, and mixtures thereof. The process is carried out by contacting the catalyst with hydrogen under sufficient conditions of temperature and pressure and for sufficient time to reduce the hydrogenolysis activity of the catalyst. The catalyst prepared by the process finds application in the catalytic conversion of organic compounds, such as ethylbenzene dealkylation, xylenes isomerization, and the transalkylation of polyalkylaromatic hydrocarbons.

Process for producing catalysts with reduced hydrogenation activity and use thereof

In a process for reducing the Bromine Index of a feed containing a linear alkylbenzene and bromine-reactive olefinic hydrocarbon contaminants, the feed is contacted under conditions effective to remove bromine-reactive olefinic hydrocarbon contaminants with a catalyst comprising zeolite Y catalyst having an alpha value of about 2 to about 30. The feed will normally also contain benzene and linear paraffin remaining from the alkylation process used to produce the linear alkylbenzene.

Reduction of the Bromine Index of linear alkylbenzenes

The invention relates to a process for producing a desired dialkylbenzene isomer having a formula RCH, where R is an alkyl substituent, by contacting a polyalkylbenzene compound of formula RCH, where n is an integer between 2 and 4, with a monoalkylbenzene compound of formula RCHin the presence of a molecular sieve catalyst under reaction conditions sufficient to produce said dialkybenzene isomer. The preferred molecular sieve catalysts have pores or surface cavities greater than 5.6 Angstroms in diameter and/or an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07, and 3.42&#xb1;0.07 Angstrom.

A process is described for producing an alkylaromatic compound by reacting an alkylatable aromatic compound with a feed comprising an alkene and an alkane in a multistage reaction system comprising at least first and second series-connected alkylation reaction zones each containing an alkylation catalyst. At least the first alkylation reaction zone is operated under conditions of temperature and pressure effective to cause alkylation of the aromatic compound with the alkene in the presence of the alkylation catalyst, the temperature and pressure being such that the aromatic compound is partly in the vapor phase and partly in the liquid phase. An effluent comprising the alkylaromatic compound, unreacted alkylatable aromatic compound, any unreacted alkene and the alkane is withdrawn from the first alkylation reaction zone and at least part of the alkane is removed from the effluent to produce an alkane-depleted effluent. The alkane-depleted effluent is then supplied to the second alkylation reaction zone.
