Embodiments of the disclosure provide a battery management system (BMS) including: a first controller monitoring a first battery cell array having at least one battery cell and configured to measure an operating parameter of the first battery cell array; and a second controller monitoring a second battery cell array having at least one battery cell and configured to measure an operating parameter of the second battery cell array, and communicatively coupled to the first controller. The first controller is selectable between: an active mode for receiving the measured operating parameter of the second battery cell array from the second controller, and detecting a fault in the first or the second battery cell array based upon the measured operating parameters thereof, and a passive mode for measuring the operating parameter of the first battery cell array, and transmitting the measured operating parameter to the second controller.

A method for improving the beam current for certain ion beams, and particularly germanium and argon, is disclosed. The use of argon as a second gas has been shown to improve the ionization of germane, allowing the formation of a germanium ion beam of sufficient beam current without the use of a halogen. Additionally, the use of germane as a second gas has been shown to improve the beam current of an argon ion beam.

A ventilated mask for outdoor use is provided having a face mask to protect the wearer against insects and flying debris. The mask covers the user's nose, mouth and cheek area, and has a removable visor to provide protection for the eyes as well. The use of a snap in filter for additional protection against dust or other airborne irritants. The filter is held in place on the user's head by a pair of adjustable elastic straps. Finally, a hinged opening is provided in the mask area by the user's mouth to allow the insertion of game calling devices, drink bottles, straws, and the like, without requiring the user to remove the mask.

Ventilated mask for outdoor use

An electric drive system is provided to generate varying amounts of output torque supplied to a driven member over a wide range of constant revolutions per minute speeds to reduce power consumption. The electric motor includes a rotor and a stator assembly. The stator assembly is disposed around the rotor and is inductively coupled to the rotor. The stator assembly further includes a plurality of poles, each pole consisting of a plurality of split windings wound so that the magnetic fluxes generated therefrom are added. Power switching circuits are provided for energizing the partition drives of split windings on each of the stator poles. A controller is used to selectively control the frequency, pulse width modulation, and partition configuration to vary the rotational speed and torque generation supplied to the driven member.

Electric vehicle drive system

The present invention provides the method for placing the patient's wrist in traction to alleviate symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. The preferred apparatus utilizes a harness to connect the patient's hand to a traction device and a stabilizing attachment to restrain the patient's arm in an anatomically neutral position while isolating the patient's soldier and elbow from the traction device.

Wrist traction device and method

A fractional-power electric motor is provided to generate varying amounts of output torque supplied to a driven member over a wide range of RPM speeds so as to reduce power consumption on a battery-powered source. The electric motor includes a rotor and a stator assembly. The stator assembly is disposed around the rotor and is inductively coupled to the rotor. The stator assembly further includes a plurality of poles, each having a main winding and at least one fractional-power winding. The main winding and associated at least one fractional-power winding on each of the stator poles are wound so that the magnetic fluxes generated therefrom are added. Power switching circuits are provided for independently energizing the main and fractional-power windings on each of the stator poles. A controller is used to control selectively the frequency and duty cycle energization of the power switching circuits to vary the rotational speed of the rotor and the amounts of torque supplied to the driven member.

Buildings and building components

This invention provides bridge girt assemblies, and modular building panels, for use in fabricating walls and roofs of buildings. The panels have novel structures adapted to protect the interior of the building from intrusion of heat and cold, and/or from fire, and/or from small arms gunfire. Some embodiments also provide mechanical reinforcing connections between the building structural members and the outside of the building. The modular panels can be made entirely with noncombustible materials.

A head-mounted, hat-like device includes components for guiding a stream of air flowing in a direction frontwardly of the face of the user and filter components for filtering the stream of air. The air flow guiding components include a fan fixedly mounted to a housing, a directional member mounted to the visor portion of the housing for directing air frontwardly of the person's face and a conduit for interconnecting the directional component and the fan device. The fan device draws ambient air including smoke and other by-products of burning tobacco through the directional component and along the conduit to be discharged by the fan device through a conventional tobacco by-product filter component, thereby cleansing the stream of air before it is released to the air space above the person.
