The invention relates to a process for the production of ethylene in an integrated configuration comprising (i) a steam cracker configuration which comprises a steam cracker unit, a water condensation unit and a carbon dioxide removal unit and (ii) an oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) configuration which comprises an ODH unit and a water condensation unit, wherein an effluent coming from the ODH configuration, which effluent comprises unconverted ethane and ethylene, is fed to the steam cracker configuration at a position which is downstream of the steam cracker unit, and wherein unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and acetylene are removed from at least a portion of the stream coming from the ODH unit by oxidation of carbon monoxide and acetylene into carbon dioxide in an oxidation unit which is located at a position (a) which is downstream of the ODH unit, and (b) which is downstream of the steam cracker unit and upstream of the carbon dioxide removal unit of the steam cracker configuration.

Integrated ethylene production process

Processes and associated reaction systems for the oxidative dehydrogenation of an alkane containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms, preferably ethane or propane, more preferably ethane, are provided. In particular, a process is provided that comprises supplying a feed gas comprising the alkane and oxygen to a reactor vessel that comprises an upstream and downstream catalyst bed; contacting the feed gas with an oxidative dehydrogenation catalyst in the upstream catalyst bed, followed by contact with an oxidative dehydrogenation/oxygen removal catalyst in the downstream catalyst bed, to yield a reactor effluent comprising the alkene; and supplying an upstream coolant to an upstream shell space of the reactor vessel from an upstream coolant circuit and a downstream coolant to a downstream shell space of the reactor vessel from a downstream coolant circuit.

Alkane oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH)

The invention relates to a process for treatment of a mixed metal oxide catalyst containing molybdenum, vanadium, niobium and optionally tellurium, comprising contacting a gas stream comprising methane, an inert gas or oxygen or any combination of two or more of these with the catalyst, wherein said gas stream comprises 0 to 25 vol. % of an alkane containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms and/or alkene containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms.

Treatment of a mixed metal oxide catalyst containing molybdenum, vanadium, niobium and optionally tellurium

The invention relates to a process for the production of an alkene by alkane oxidative dehydrogenation, comprising: (a) subjecting a stream comprising an alkane to oxidative dehydrogenation conditions, comprising contacting the alkane with oxygen in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixed metal oxide, resulting in a stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane, water, carbon dioxide, unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and optionally an alkyne; (b) removing water from at least part of the stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane, water, carbon dioxide, unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and optionally an alkyne resulting from step (a), resulting in a stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane, carbon dioxide, unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and optionally alkyne; (c) removing unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and optionally alkyne from at least part of the stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane, carbon dioxide, unconverted oxygen, carbon monoxide and optionally alkyne resulting from step (b), wherein carbon monoxide and optionally alkyne are oxidized into carbon dioxide, resulting in a stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane and carbon dioxide; (d) optionally removing carbon dioxide from at least part of the stream comprising alkene, unconverted alkane in and carbon dioxide resulting from step (c), resulting in a stream comprising alkene and unconverted alkane; (e) optionally separating at least part of the stream comprising alkene and unconverted alkane resulting from step (d), into a stream comprising alkene and a stream comprising unconverted alkane; (f) optionally recycling unconverted alkane from at least part of the stream comprising unconverted alkane resulting from step (e), to step (a).

Gas clean-up for alkane oxidative dehydrogenation effluent

The invention relates to a process for conversion of a stream comprising methane and ethane, comprising converting ethane from a stream comprising methane and ethane, in which stream the volume ratio of methane to ethane is of from 0.005:1 to 100:1, to a product having a vapor pressure at 0&#xb0; C. lower than 1 atmosphere, resulting in a stream comprising methane and the product having a vapor pressure at 0&#xb0; C. lower than 1 atmosphere; separating the product having a vapor pressure at 0&#xb0; C. lower than 1 atmosphere from the stream comprising methane and the product having a vapor pressure at 0&#xb0; C. lower than 1 atmosphere, resulting in a stream comprising methane; and chemically converting methane from the stream comprising methane, or feeding methane from the stream comprising methane to a network that provides methane as energy source, or liquefying methane from the stream comprising methane.

Conversion of mixed methane/ethane streams

Processes and associated reaction systems for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane are provided. In particular, a process is provided that comprises supplying a feed gas comprising ethane and oxygen to a multitubular fixed-bed reactor, allowing the ethane and oxygen to react in the presence of an oxidative dehydrogenation catalyst to yield a reactor effluent comprising ethylene; supplying a coolant to an upstream region of an interior shell space of the reactor in a flow pattern that is counter-current with the flow of the feed gas; and withdrawing the coolant from the upstream region and supplying at least a portion of the coolant withdrawn from the upstream region to the downstream region in a flow pattern that is co-current with the flow of the feed gas.

Oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane

The invention relates to a process of the oxidative dehydrogenation of an alkane containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms and/or the oxidation of an alkene containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms, wherein oxygen, water and the alkane and/or alkene are fed to a reactor and are contacted with a mixed metal oxide catalyst containing molybdenum, vanadium, niobium and optionally tellurium in the reactor, and wherein the molar ratio of water as fed to the reactor to oxygen as fed to the reactor is smaller than 1:1.

Alkane oxidative dehydrogenation and/or alkene oxidation

The invention concerns a process for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. In the process an ethane comprising stream is fed to a distillation column to remove propane. The purified ethane stream is subjected to oxidative dehydrogenation using a catalyst comprising Mo/V/Sb, or Mo/V/Nb and Te or Sb in the orthorhombic M1 crystalline phase. The reactor effluent comprises ethylene. The effluent is washed with water to remove acetic acid. The acetic acid is recovered from the aqueous stream by means of solvent extraction.

Ethane oxidative dehydrogenation and acetic acid recovery

The invention relates to a process of the oxidative dehydrogenation of a C2-6 alkane, comprising subjecting a stream comprising methane and the C2-6 alkane, in which stream the volume ratio of methane to the C2-6 alkane is of from 0.005:1 to 100:1, to oxydehydrogenation conditions resulting in a stream comprising methane, a C2-6 alkene and optionally a C2-6 carboxylic acid.

Alkane oxidative dehydrogenation

The present invention provides a method for producing a syngas stream, the method at least comprising the steps of: (a) providing a hydrocarbon-containing stream; (b) providing a reactor containing a heated mass of solids at a temperature of at least 1000&#xb0; C.; (c) cracking the hydrocarbon-containing stream provided in step (a) in the reactor containing the heated mass of solids provided in step (b), thereby at least obtaining C and H; (d) removing an H-containing stream from the reactor; (e) converting the C obtained in step (c) in the reactor at an HO/COvol. % feed ratio of greater than zero, thereby obtaining a CO/H-containing stream; (f) removing the CO/H-containing stream from the reactor; (g) combining the H-containing stream removed in step (d) with the CO/H-containing stream removed in step (f) thereby obtaining a syngas stream.
