An electrical device such as, for example, a battery-powered electrical switch is disclosed. The battery-powered wireless switch includes one or more mechanisms arranged and configured to provide simplified access for servicing (e.g., replacing) the batteries located within the wireless switch. In one embodiment, the wireless switch is arranged and configured so that the batteries may be accessed by reconfiguring the wireless switch from a first closed position to a second opened position to access the batteries. Thus arranged, removal of the wireless switch from a wall-box or a surface of a wall is not required, the user may only need to remove the wall-plate in order to reconfigure the wireless switch. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the wireless switch is pivoted from the first position to the second position to provide access to the batteries.

A wall-plate system having a wall-plate adapted to accommodate a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) coupled with the wall-plate and may comprise a mounting bracket. The PCBA may include one or more chip packages and/or other components that extend into cavities in the mounting bracket after installation, the cavities located on the mounting bracket to accommodate chip packages and/or other components. The wall-plate may include snaps to couple with the mounting bracket, the snaps extending from an interior surface of the wall-plate, the snaps located away from edges of the wall-plate towards a center of the wall-plate. The mounting bracket may comprise openings to couple with a device in a junction box and/or with the junction box. The wall-plate may comprise, e.g., one or more battery mounts and the mounting bracket may have a shape to accommodate extension by the battery mounts into a plane of the mounting bracket.

Techniques for securely controlling multiple lighting devices simultaneously with a lighting control device are disclosed. Command messages may be transmitted from the lighting control device to multiple lighting devices over a computer network without routing through a remote cloud service. The messages may be encrypted and may include an incremented sequence number. Lighting devices that receive a command message may compare the incremented sequence number to a previously stored sequence number corresponding to the lighting control device. If the incremented sequence number is greater than the stored sequence number, then a lighting device may determine the message was transmitted by an authorized lighting control device and may implement any command instruction included therein. If the incremented sequence number is equal to or less than the stored sequence number, then the lighting device may determine the command message was transmitted by a malicious source and may ignore the command message.

Method for securely transmitting lighting scenes over a computer network with cloud setup and authentication

Timing adjustment for accurate zero-crossing determination includes obtaining time offset(s) representing amounts of time between (i) zero-crossings of an input signal waveform, representative of an input AC waveform, input to a zero-crossing detector circuit and (ii) corresponding transitions of an output signal from an output of the circuit to a microcontroller, and determining times of the zero-crossings of the input AC waveform, which includes determining times of the corresponding transitions as detected by the microcontroller and adjusting the determined times using the time offset(s) to produce the times of the zero-crossings of the input AC waveform. In another aspect, input AC frequency is determined by determining pulse width(s) of pulse(s) of the output signal, and adjusting a half-cycle time corresponding to the pulse width(s) using the time offset(s) to provide a duration of half-cycles of the input AC waveform and inform a frequency of the input AC waveform.

Timing adjustments for accurate zero-crossing determination

Operating an electrical load controller includes, in one aspect, detecting zero-crossings of an AC waveform, determining periods each corresponding to a full cycle of the AC waveform, determining a frequency of the AC waveform based on the determined periods, and controlling a supply of AC power to a load based thereon using the determined frequency to fire a switching circuit of the electrical load controller. In another aspect, a method includes maintaining a minimum on-time for which a control signal to the switching circuit is to remain in an ON state to fire the switching circuit; based on a desired load level setting of the electrical load controller, setting a corresponding control signal turn-on time to turn the control signal to the ON state to conduct the supply of AC power to the load, the control signal turn-on time corresponding to a firing angle of half cycles of the AC power; selecting a control signal turn-off time to turn the control signal to the OFF state, where the selecting is made between (i) a first turn-off time equal to the set turn-on time plus the minimum on-time, and (ii) a second turn-off time equal to a default turn-off time for turning the control signal to the OFF state, the control signal turn-off time corresponding to a second angle of half cycles of the AC power; and controlling the supply of AC power to the load by selectively controlling the switching circuit to conduct the supply of AC power to the load, the controlling the supply of AC power to the load including: based on turning the control signal to the ON state during a half cycle of the AC power at the set control signal turn-on time, holding the control signal in the ON state until the selected control signal turn-off time during the half cycle.

A wireless enabled load control device having integrated voice control is disclosed. The load control device may be connected to a variety of local and remote devices, including lighting devices and smart appliances, as well as various cloud service platforms. The load control device may receive a voice command from a user. The load control device may transmit the voice command to a first cloud service platform for processing to determine an instruction included in the voice command. The determined instruction may be provided to a second cloud service platform connected to the first cloud service platform. The first and second cloud service platforms may be connected to a device to be controlled based on the voice command. The cloud service platforms can adjust an operation of the device based on the determined instruction.
