In paper feeder apparatus, the combination comprising first means including a support for a paper stack and transfer elements for successively transferring paper sheets from the top of the stack upwardly and laterally to a delivered position, and optical control means to determine the level of an upper paper or papers in the stack to control the vertical positioning of papers on the stack, to enable said upwardly and laterally sheet delivering as the stack height diminishes, and a controller for cyclically controlling said transfer elements to integrate cyclic upward and lateral movement of successive sheets transferring from the stack.

The present invention concerns a method for detecting the presence of a ribosome inactivating protein in a sample. The method comprises contacting a sample suspected of containing a ribosome inactivating protein with a 2'-O-methylated oligonucleotide substrate having a GAGA tetraloop wherein 'A' is a deoxyribonucleoside comprising a fluorescent adenine derivative or analog base capable of emitting a fluorescence when released from the nucleoside, 'A', and detecting the presence of the fluorescent adenine derivative or analog base released from the tetraloop as an indication of the presence of the ribosome inactivating protein in the sample. The present invention is also directed to an assay kit and a reagent useful for carrying out the steps of the above method.

Method for detecting ribosome inactivating proteins

A method is provided for the in vitro testing of chemicals to determine roductive toxicity using hyperactivated rabbit spermatozoa, and a method is provided for the in vitro production of said rabbit spermatozoa of hyperactivated motility useful in said testing. Spermatozoa are incubated in a simple salts medium in air at 22.degree. to 37.degree. C. Hyperactivated motility develops in one-half to one hour. Motility parameters are then measured using motion analysis systems and models for the classification of spermatozoa based on motility. Inhibition of hyperactivated motility of spermatozoa by exposure to chemicals may be used as an in vitro method of assessing the reproductive consequences of exposure of males to chemicals.
