A method and system for caching content, such as content requested from a server on the World Wide Web. Requests for dynamic content are forwarded directly to a content server to avoid caching data that might only be used once. Requests for static content are forwarded to a hot or a regular cache depending on the frequency at which the content is requested. When a hot cache does not contain the content, it forwards the request to the forwarder which then forwards the request to a regular cache. When the regular cache does not contain the content, it requests the content from the forwarder which then forwards the request to a content server. There may be more than two layers of cache.

Method and system for distributing requests for content

A method and system for providing a persistent HTTP tunnel for a connection-oriented protocol between a client and a Web server. A data message complying with the connection-oriented protocol is generated and embedded into a chunked data message in compliance with a chunking option for the HTTP. The chunked data message is transmitted between a client and a Web server. Upon receiving any chunked data message at the Web server, the Web server parses the chunked data message and delivers the data message to a host system. Upon receiving any chunked data message at the client, the client parses the chunked data message and delivers the data message to a terminal emulator running on the client. This allows a terminal session to be supported by a real-time bi-directional persistent connection with the host system. The bi-directional persistent connection allows interleaving of the chunked data messages from the Web client with the chunked data messages on the Web server on the persistent HTTP tunnel.

Method and system for providing a persistent HTTP tunnel

A sight viewing apparatus (10) is disclosed in the preferred form including an extruded tubular portion (12) slideably received on an extruded body portion (56). A lens (36) is captured by first and second extruded collars (42, 44) slideably received within the tubular portion (12). A light bulb (146), spring (148), battery (152), and bolt (154) are received in a first bore (142) in the body portion (56). Light from the enclosed bulb (146) passes through a second bore (144) formed in the body portion (56) and intersecting with the first bore (142) and through removed portions (54, 156) formed in the collar (42) and the tubular portion (12). A lens assembly (96) is attached to a slide (110) by a bolt (106) and dowel pin (108) to allow lateral or windage positioning relative to the front lens (36), and the slide (110) is adjustably positionable on an angular surface (88) to allow elevational positioning relative to the front lens (36). The inside surface of the collar (42) is reflective to reflect the light passing into the tubular portion (12) to illuminate markings (40, 105) of iridescent matter on the lenses (36, 100). Mounting provisions (68) is further provided on the body portion (56) to allow mounting the apparatus (10) on a firearm or the like.

A mounting device (160) is disclosed including a dove tail groove (184) formed in a bevel surface (168) for slideable receipt on the sight ramp (162) of a slug barrel shotgun. The ramp (162) is captured by collapsing a pinch slit (186) formed in the groove (184). Further, the mounting device (160) is canted by a bolt (190) threadably received in the device (160) and which abuts with the shotgun barrel adjacent the sight ramp (162).

A viewing and sighting apparatus is disclosed in its preferred form utilizing a self-luminous lighting material marked on and within clear see-through lenses and may be provided with an electronically lit light source. The sighting device is characterized by a see-through tubular structure with a front clear lens having a cross-like image marked through its center and a rear clear lens having a circle-like image marked in its center. This sighting device is affixed with a means of adjusting the position of the rear circle image in its relationship to the center of the front cross and a means to mount on various weapons of use. The viewing and sighting apparatus may be used to isolate a target area and aim and direct projectile impace to a specific target within the isolated target area and may be further used in darkened conditions.

Preferred forms of viewing apparatus according to the teachings of the present invention are shown as including an enclosed and elongated see-through passage having a hooded front opening. The rear end of the enclosed and elongated see-through passage includes a visually opaque annular perimeter portion extending around a rear opening of a size smaller than the front opening. The effect of the passage, the size relationships of the front and rear openings, and the annular perimeter portion is to separate the targeted object from its immediate surroundings and to create a visual window effect rather than a tunnel effect. In its most preferred form, the passage has a constant size throughout its length and the annular perimeter portion extends radially into the passage. The viewing apparatus includes a camouflage cover which can be removably secured thereto and a range finder on the annular perimeter portion for judging distances to the targeted object. In preferred forms of the viewing apparatus including sighting members within the passage according to the teachings of the present invention, apparatus for providing windage and elevation adjustment is incorporated with the enclosed and elongated see-through passage.

Viewing apparatus

A viewing apparatus for the purpose of separating a particular view from its surroundings and for the purpose of identifying the distance of the viewed object is disclosed. A viewing apparatus that attaches to and is used in conjunction with firearms weaponry is disclosed. The apparatus is characterized by an enclosed and elongated see through hooded opening attached directly to said firearms weaponry and is used to direct and aid open sight viewing of a distant object by blocking out immediate surroundings and thereby separating the view of said object from its immediate surroundings. The apparatus is affixed with a calibrated scale designed to measure distance of a distant object according to its height. The apparatus can be affixed with additional apparatus for precise windage and elevation adjustment.

A mounting device for the purpose of mounting various sighting apparatus on the raised vented rib of shotguns and various other weapons is disclosed. A mounting device that attaches to any suspended rail is disclosed. The device is characterized by a channeled piece of material designed to customly accept a flat plate of material within the inner surface walls of the extending arms of said channel and connected together by screws through mating holes to create a clamp-like device when the flat plate of material is placed beneath the suspended rail and the channel piece is placed on top of the suspended rail and mated to the flat plate and drawn together with screws to create a mounting surface on top of the suspended rail for use with various sighting apparatus. The device is affixed with centering and alignment means and braces that allow for adjusting to the various distances between the suspending posts of the rail, for stabilizing and for recoil absorption. The device can be formed, shaped and otherwise configured to work in conjunction with other practical mounting methods.
