Disclosed is a main liner for a centrifugal pump having a main pumping chamber, the main liner being located within an outer housing of the centrifugal pump, when in use, and comprising: a main pumping chamber; an inlet opening for the introduction of a liquid into the main pumping chamber; a discharge outlet extending from the main pumping chamber; and an outer surface of the discharge outlet for contact with the outer housing for the liner, the outer surface having at least one alignment portion for engaging with a corresponding alignment portion on the outer housing, the engagement of the alignment portion with the corresponding alignment portion limiting movement of the discharge outlet relative to the outer housing.

A method of producing a composite metal article and/or a composite metal wear component. The method including the following steps: casting a component composed of a host metal composition wherein one or more cavities are formed in the component during casting; inserting a wear resistant composition in solid form into the one or more cavities formed in the component composed of the host metal composition; and, bonding the wear resistant composition into the one or more cavities of the component composed of the host metal composition to form the composite metal article.

A self-monitoring adjustment system is provided for evaluating and effecting adjustment of the leakage restricting mechanism between the rotating and non-rotating elements of a rotodynamic pump to restrict leakage and to establish desired gap dimensions between the rotating and non-rotating elements of the pump. The adjustment system is structured to be self-monitoring for determination of when an adjustment of the leakage restricting mechanism is warranted by the conditions of the pump, and is structured with adjusting mechanisms that are self-adjusting responsive to the monitored conditions of the pump, though manual adjustment is also enabled.

Self-monitoring system for evaluating and controlling adjustment requirements of leakage restricting devices in rotodynamic pumps

A selectively configured volute for incorporation into a centrifugal pump of the volute type is disclosed for use in processing heavy duty slurries that are characterized by containing particularly large and/or abrasive particulates that are known to degrade the pump casing or pump casing liner. The configured volute of the present invention is particularly suitable for use in connection with the use of an impeller having expelling vanes that aggressively pump out slurry from the seal face of the pump. The configured volute of the present invention provides resistance to wear when processing heavy duty slurries and provides stable flow performance and improved pump performance.
