A peeling plate has upper and lower sides, lateral faces extending between the upper and lower sides, and primary and secondary cutting edges at the transition from the lateral faces to the upper side. The peeling plate in a plan view of the upper side has the shape of a substantially regular n-gon, n being five or six, and n lateral edges lying between the n lateral faces. A primary cutting edge and a secondary cutting edge are formed at the transition from at least one lateral face to the upper surface, wherein active primary cutting edges and active secondary cutting edges are spaced apart from a lateral edge. The lateral edge at the transition to the upper side forming an active cutting corner to the respective active primary cutting edge and active secondary cutting edge.

Peeling plate

The drill bit is particularly suitable for drilling rock. An elongated shank carries at least one cutting insert at one end. Cutting edges are formed by adjoining flanks and rake faces which enclose a wedge angle &ggr;. The rake faces, between marginal segments at the circumference of the drill bit and segments at the center of the drill bit have one or more recesses which run right into the adjacent flanks. These recesses reduce the wedge angle &ggr;, at least in a longitudinal section extending directly up to the cutting edges, relative to the remaining cutting-edge segments. In this way, an improved drilling capacity with good resistance to chipping of the cutting edges is achieved.

Drill bit for drilling rock

A drill bit for drilling rock has an elongated shaft and at least one cutting plate at one end. A clearance angle &bgr; of the cutting edges, at least in segments, increases with increasing distance from the rotary axis. A wedge angle &ggr; of the cutting edges, at least in segments, decreases with increasing distance from the rotary axis.

The cutting plate for a drill bit is press-formed from a powdery starting material. In the process, the cutting plate is arranged horizontally in the press die and the relative movement of top punch and bottom punch with respect to the die is effected parallel to the flank or flanks of the lateral supporting edge or edges. The novel method enables a variety of special design configurations of the cutting plates.

A masonry drill bit having an active diameter of D, comprising a shaft and a tip 1 for engaging a workpiece, wherein the tip 1 is formed with a plurality of stepped portions shaped to cut a workpiece as the drill bit rotates. By virtue of the drill bit tip 5 configuration as described and claimed herein, a masonry drill bit 1 having improved performance is provided.

The invention relates to an extrusion process and an extrusion tool for the production of cylindrical metallic or ceramic blanks having one or more internal twisted longitudinal bores. A plasticized, pulverulent starting material, deformable by means of extrusion, is forced through a space formed by a die and a mandrel. One or more twisted central pins of a rigid material are fastened to the mandrel which ends before the inner space of the die. The central pins form the longitudinal bores in the blank. The positioning of the longitudinal bores is extremely symmetrical within the blank and uniformly achieved in the various individual blanks extruded using the same production batch.
