A method for controlling droplet ejection, wherein droplets ejected from an inkjet print head are to be received on a recording substrate and wherein the print head and the recording substrate are moveable relative to each other, includes determining a set of droplet ejection moments, the set of droplet ejection moments determining when a droplet may be ejected from the print head; moving the inkjet print head and the recording substrate relative to each other; predicting an actual relative position of the print head and the recording substrate at a droplet ejection moment; and determining whether or not a droplet is to be ejected at the droplet ejection moment depending on the predicted actual relative position and depending on the predetermined pattern. Thus, droplets may be ejected from the print head only at stable droplet ejection moments resulting in an increased stability of operation of the print head.

Method for controlling droplet ejection from an inkjet print head

In a method for detecting an operating state of at least one fluid chamber of an inkjet print head, after having generated a pressure wave in the fluid chamber, a resulting pressure wave in the fluid chamber is detected. A detection signal corresponding to the detected pressure wave is then generated and a state indicator is determined from the detection signal using a wavelet window, the state indicator being suitable for deriving an operating state of the fluid chamber. This method enables reliable state detection. In an embodiment, it is enabled to perform the state detection between subsequent droplet ejections, thereby obtaining a highly reliable inkjet process.

A method of controlling an inkjet printhead containing a substantially closed duct in which ink is situated, said duct having at least one exit opening for the ink, wherein an actuation pulse is applied to an electro-mechanical transducer so that the pressure in the duct changes in such a manner than an ink drop is ejected from the exit opening, wherein the method further comprises: measuring the electric impedance of the electromechanical transducer and adapting the actuation pulse on the basis of the measured impedance.

A method of controlling an inkjet printhead with a substantially closed duct in which ink is disposed, which duct has an exit opening for the ink, the method including the actuation of an electromechanical transducer so that the pressure the duct changes in such a manner that an ink drop is ejected from the exit opening, said pressure causing a deformation of the transducer, whereby after the end of the actuation, an electric signal generated by the transducer is measured as a result of the deformation, wherein a subsequent actuation of the transducer is adapted to the measured signal.
