An electrical distribution load center consists of a non-conductive enclosure and a circuit breaker bus bar support panel that are interconnected by interlock members that can be snap-fitted to secure the two panels to each other. The support panel also has a latch member so that the bus bars can be mounted onto the panel in a heat-staking, insert-molded or snap-fit arrangement. The support panel also has elements for locking the circuit breakers onto the panels in conducting contact with the bus bars. The enclosure and the support panel are enclosed by a non-metallic trim panel that has a non-metallic door hinged thereto and which carries a latch for latching the door to the trim panel.

The following specification describes a fusible switch assembly having a thermoplastic base supporting a plurality of pivotal knife blades. A one piece thermoplastic arc suppressor housing common to a plurality of phases is also described together with arc suppressor plates snap fit in the housing and a common one piece thermoplastic rotor for moving the blades. The rotor is retained by engagement with the knife blades and walls of the base.

The following specification describes a pullout fuse holder having a cover and a base with asymmetrically arranged stop walls permitting the cover carrying fuses and terminals to be assembled in one orientation to the base for interconnecting line and load terminals and to be assembled to the base in another orientation to store the fuses without interconnecting the line and load terminals.

The following specification describes a double rabbet on the back of a panelboard cover for nestingly receiving a flange on the panelboard hopper. This permits proper cover adjustment irrespective of cabinet misalignment and prevents the deliberate insertion of an object past the hopper to possibly engage a live circuit at the interior assembly of the panelboard.

The following specification describes a meter receptacle assembly utilizing an outer collar to overlap the meter flange base and latched to the cabinet in which the meter is mounted by interlocked tabs and a sealing wire. A trim or cover plate for the cabinet in turn overlaps a flange wall on the collar and is locked to the cabinet to prevent removal of the collar and unauthorized bypass of the meter. A cutout in the cover plate provides access and visibility for the sealing wire. Authorized bypass connections for the meter to permit its removal without disturbing service are facilitated by horn terminals whose ends project beyond the meter periphery to permit facile connections thereto.

Meter receptacle assembly

An apparatus for rejecting an improperly installed plug-on unit, including a circuit controlling device, in an electric power distribution and metering system having a box-like enclosure. A pair of supports are attached to opposing sides within the enclosure with top surfaces substantially parallel to the back of the enclosure so that the plug-on unit can be secured thereto. The circuit controlling device includes a circuit breaker with plug-on jaws, a receptacle and a neutral connector at one end of the plug-on unit which plugs into a jaw of a ground assembly on the back of the enclosure. A plurality of U-shaped interference brackets are welded across the width of the enclosure above the top surface of one support where the end of the plug-on unit containing the neutral connector must be mounted. Each bracket includes a 30.degree. angle on the outermost end of the bracket which slopes inwardly toward the side of the enclosure in direction from top to bottom of the bracket so that the mounting of the plug-on units can only be accomplished in one manner. This manner requires the neutral connector end of the plug-on unit to be inserted at approximately the 30.degree. angle of the brackets onto the top surface of the one support and then pivoted until the breaker jaws mount on the bus bar and the other end of the plug-on unit rests upon the top surface of the other support. Therefore, the neutral connector which is on the pivoted end of the plug-on unit, is plugged into the jaw of the ground assembly a predetermined distance prior to the circuit being energized.

Rejection device for outdoor meter pedestal systems

A socket for a watt-hour meter is provided with a manual by-pass device to prevent interruption of power to a load when the watt-hour meter is removed from the socket. The manually operable by-pass device comprises a slider having a pair of contact bridges mounted on a body portion of the slider. The slider is mounted on an insulating base of the by-pass device for reciprocable movement. The bar is supported by contact brackets which are connected to line and load terminals of the meter socket, the slider being reciprocably movable to provide selective engagement between the contact brackets and the contact bridges when the watt-hour meter is removed from the socket.
