A modular analytic system includes a base, at least one fluid sample processing module configured to be removably attached to the base, at least one fluid sample analysis module configured to be removably attached to the base, a fluid actuation module positioned on the base, a fluidic network comprising multiple fluidic channels, in which the fluid actuation module is arranged to control transport of a fluid sample between the at least one sample processing module and the at least one sample analysis module through the fluidic network, and an electronic processor, in which the electronic processor is configured to control operation of the fluid actuation module and receive measurement data from the at least one fluid sample analysis module.

A system and method are provided for scheduling, calendaring, notifying, and providing automated real-time updating of scheduled appointment times on a central master schedule. The system and method dynamically optimize a number of appointments being scheduled within a range of time using a distributed computing system suitable for providing a self-service model for patient driven scheduling of appointments. Specifically, the system optimizes scheduled appointment times in response to a break in the schedule or a manual update of a specific scheduled appointment to maximize the number of appointments capable of being scheduled within a defined work day for the service provider. A plurality of edge-connected devices act as the initiators of scheduling changes, while creating an edge-connected schema for handling elastic scheduling tasks that are reflected on the centrally placed master calendar residing on a passive peer-validated data store and/or database.

System and method for scheduling appointments

The present invention provides a microfluidic system, device, and kit for particle analysis. In one example, the device includes a fluid channel for spacing the particles, an excitation waveguide to guide an excitation beam from a source to the fluid channel, and an excitation lens to focus the excitation beam to a width less than the spacing of the particles in the fluid channel. The device also includes a detection lens to guide light transmitted from the channel along a number of paths, axial and scatter light waveguide to receive light guided by the detection lens, a detector to receive transmitted light from the waveguides and generate a detection signal, and a processor configured to receive the detection signal and determine characteristic features of each of the particles based on the detection signal.

For example, a burn injury may be associated with distant pathophysiological effects, such as hypermetabolism, skeletal muscle dysfunction, and organ damage. The disclosure also relates to methods for protecting a subject from a burn injury by administering an effective amount of an aromatic-cationic peptide to a subject at risk of a burn injury.
