An electric motor built for exposure to high pressure fluid includes a unitary metal sleeve that provides a fluid barrier between the rotor and the stator. An overmolded resin encapsulates the stator windings and reinforces the sleeve to minimize deformation of the sleeve under high fluid pressures. The overmolded resin also fixes the positions of insulation displacement connectors connected to the stator windings, thereby avoiding mechanical brackets and fasteners for holding the insulation displacement connectors in position.

Electric motor for use in pressurized fluid environment

Embodiments of the invention provide a pump assembly including a pump chamber with an inlet and an outlet. The pump assembly also includes a first cup at least partially enclosing the pump chamber and including a protrusion with a central recess, and a shaft positioned within the central recess. The pump assembly further includes a substantially hemispherical rotor unit with at least one ferrous metal element molded in plastic, and an impeller coupled to the rotor unit. The rotor unit and the impeller are positioned inside the first cup and rotatable around the shaft.

Magnetically coupled pump assembly

A motor includes a rotor having a plurality of pole magnets angularly spaced about the rotor's rotational axis through an angle of 360&#xb0;, and a stator including a plurality of windings angularly spaced about the rotational axis through an angle less than 360&#xb0; to provide an angular section free of windings, wherein at least one of the plurality of pole magnets is not radially opposite any of the plurality of windings at any given rotational position of the rotor. The motor is designed for use in powering a horizontal blade reel of a cylindrical lawn mower, and includes a housing having a cross-sectional shape in the form of a chord-truncated circle, such that the housing has a flat portion corresponding to the angular section free of windings. The truncated motor housing avoids unattractive 'layover' of grass during mowing.

Mower motor

A combined d.c. brushless motor and drive control assembly for a rotary mower includes a hollow motor housing, a cover removably attached to an open rear end of the housing, and an end shield mounted to an internal shelf of the housing adjacent its rear end. The end shield and a front wall of the housing define rotary bearing seats for a motor drive shaft. An electronic circuit board including motor drive electronics and feedback sensors is mounted to the housing or to the cover, and is positioned at an axial location between the internal shelf of the housing and the rear wall of the cover. The housing is configured for mounting on a shroud of the rotary mower such that at least the removable cover is above the shroud and easily accessible, whereby repair or replacement of the electronic circuit board is facilitated.

Lawn mower motor and drive

A magnetic drive assembly includes a housing having a cylindrical end bell portion and a cylindrical hub portion adjacent the end bell portion, wherein the radius of the hub portion is greater than the radius of the end bell portion. One or more mounting tabs extend radially outward from the hub portion. The housing has heat transfer fins associated with the mounting tabs for dissipating heat and structurally supporting the mounting tabs in the manner of a gusset. The heat transfer fins may be arranged on opposite sides of each mounting tab to provide support for the mounting tab in opposite axial directions of the housing. To relieve internal pressure, the housing may have at least one pressure equalization vent allowing passage of gas but not passage of liquid into and out of the housing.

Blender motor housing

For improved water resistance, the stator assembly of a d.c. brushless motor is encapsulated in an overmolding formed from a mixture of a thixotropic, flexible epoxy resin and glass fibers. The overmolding may be applied to the stator assembly by a vacuum pressure impregnation process. The overmolding may also encapsulate a Hall effect circuit board and sensors of the motor.

Water resistant varnished motor components

Embodiments of the invention provide a pump assembly and a method for assembly the pump assembly. The pump assembly includes a stator assembly, a lower pump housing, an upper pump housing, a rotor assembly, and an isolation cup. The method includes coupling the stator assembly to the lower pump housing, overmolding an overmold material over the stator assembly and the lower pump housing, positioning the isolation cup over the overmold, and positioning the rotor assembly inside the isolation cup. The method further includes placing the upper pump housing over the rotor assembly and coupling the upper pump housing to the lower pump housing.

Magnetic drive pump assembly with integrated motor

Embodiments of the invention provide a vacuum valve apparatus and method to provide a vacuum to equipment. The vacuum valve can include an air port tube, a vacuum port tube, a motor, and a control arm coupled to the vacuum port tube and the motor. The motor can cause the control arm to move in an arc in order to flex the vacuum port tube and selectively create the vacuum and vent the vacuum provided to the equipment.

Vacuum valve apparatus and method

Embodiments of the invention provide a machine that blends liquids and/or shaves ice. The machine includes a motor and a control system with an integrated power factor correction circuit and a drive circuit. The integrated power factor correction circuit receives input power from a mains power line, reduces noise transmitted to the mains power line, and provides a boosted, regulated output voltage. The drive circuit is connected to the motor and uses the regulated output voltage in order to control an effective voltage applied to the motor substantially independent of the voltage and frequency of the input power.

Drive circuit with integrated power factor correction for blender/shaver machine

A vehicle drive assembly with a drivable wheel pivotably connected to a body, about an axis substantially transverse to the body, by first and second swing arms. One of the swing arms houses a motor and includes a heat dissipating member in thermally conductive association with the motor. The heat dissipating member preferably a plurality of cooling fins exposed to ambient air. The motor is housed in an end of the first swing arm opposite the body, and has a shaft that is directly engaged to a transmission within the wheel. The transmission is contained within a gearbox housing that rotates with the wheel and is formed by left and right structural gearbox halves. A wheel rim, configured to carry a tire, is attachable only to the first gearbox half, and can slide over the second half when removed from the gearbox housing, allowing the transmission to remain assembled. The interior of the gearbox housing contains a lubricant, and a vent is formed generally parallel to the motor shaft and extending through the first swing arm. Preferably, the second swing arm is detachable from the transmission while remaining substantially stationary in a direction substantially coaxial with the axle. Also, the transmission preferably includes a planetary gear reduction unit, in which planetary gears are mounted on a gear carrier that is configured to prevent rotation caused by the motor.

Vehicle drive wheel assembly

The present invention discloses an electric vehicle frame having a lower portion and an upper portion. The lower portion includes a base and integral sidewalls. The sidewalls extend from the base to form an open cavity. The upper portion detachably joins to the lower portion such that the upper portion covers the cavity and forms a frame assembly which defines an enclosed chamber therein. The strength of the assembly is substantially greater than the strength of each of the portions prior to being joined. The lower and upper portions are formed of cast aluminum. The present invention further includes a method of assembling an electric vehicle, which includes using the frame and a plurality of subassemblies, and the electric vehicle formed therefrom, particularly in the form of a motor scooter.
