An acceptor material for printing by ink-jet primers forms water-resistant, light-stable ink records with aqueous ink jet inks. The material comprises a support such as polyester film and a coating containing a water-soluble phospholipid mordant that forms insoluble compounds with and immobilizes the dyestuffs of the ink jet inks and a water managing polymer, preferably, hardened gelatin, which quickly renders the material dry-to-the-touch after contact with the aqueous ink.

An acceptor material for printing by ink-jet printers forms water-resistant, light-stable ink records with aqueous ink jet inks. The material comprises a support such as polyester film and a coating containing a water-soluble high molecular weight amino compound that forms insoluble compounds with and immobilizes the dyestuffs of the ink jet inks and a water managing polymer, preferably, hardened gelatin, which quickly renders the material dry-to-the-touch after contact with the aqueous ink.

A toner receiver sheet having excellent adhesion to toner particles, optical clarity and physical properties that reduce or eliminate sheet feeding problems in automatic copying machines is prepared by coating on a plastic support a thin layer of a dilute aqueous colloidal solution of an acrylic polymer, an electrically conductive organic compound and a small concentration of transparent, non-light scattering polysiloxane beads. The coating is dried and cured to form on the support a water-insoluble acrylic layer of less than 2 .mu.m thickness and affixed thereto a distribution of widely spaced apart transparent polysiloxane spherical beads of 10 to 15 .mu.m diameter.

Recording material and method of manufacture

An acceptor material for printing by ink-jet printers forms quick-drying, water-resistant, light-stable ink records with aqueous ink jet inks. The material comprises a support such as polyester film and a coated layer containing a water-soluble mordant that forms insoluble compounds with and immobilizes the dyestuffs of the ink jet inks and a hardened water managing polymer, preferably, hardened gelatin, which contains polymeric beads that protrude from the layer.

Acceptor material for inks

A method and apparatus for simultaneously processing both sides of a film sheet include a pair of carrier webs extending through a nip defining mechanism and a dispenser for depositing a bead of the processing material on the carrier webs in the nip. The carrier webs are advanced through the nip by a distance greater than the length of the film sheet to be processed in order to spread the processing material, and then retracted and separated. The film sheet is fed to between the carrier webs at those areas which are covered with processing material. The carrier webs with the film sheet between them are advanced through a gap of predetermined width to press the processing material on the carrier webs into contact with the film sheet, thereby forming a sandwich. The film sheet remains in the sandwich for a suitable imbibition time, after which the film sheet is delivered. In one embodiment, the processing material takes the form of a frozen body which is deposited onto the carrier webs and melted.

Method and apparatus for processing both sides of discrete sheets

A method and apparatus for processing discrete rapid access of photographic film sheets exemplified by diffusion transfer film and film processing in which one or more sheets to be processed are supported on the working surface of one of two webs trained to pass through a processing gap defined by a pinch roller pair, for example. The discrete sheets are secured to either or both of the webs by adhesive means which may be releasable where the sheet being processed to be discharged as a product or permanent where the sheet or other component of the film system is to be retained for disposal with the web to which it is secured. The method and apparatus is applicable to single sheet film systems or to negative/positive film sheet systems wherein the image of an exposed negative is transferred to a positive sheet upon the application of processing fluid therebetween.

Method and apparatus for processing discrete sheets of film

Processing apparatus for spreading processing fluid uniformly over photochemical layers on one or more photographic sheets by progressive pressure applied by rolling surfaces provided on large diameter calendering members. To achieve the large diameter rolling surface, the calendering members are defined by cylindrical sectors having a circumferential length corresponding to the length of sheets to be processed and supported by means effective to bring the respective cylindrical surfaces of both members into contact with opposite sides of the processed sheets. In one embodiment, the calendering members are semi-cylindrical, whereas in another embodiment the members are quadrants of cylinders.

In a preferred embodiment, the silver complexing agent is an organic tertiary phosphine and the electron acceptor is an n or .pi. type charge receptor having an electron affinity between 1 and 2 electron volts.
