In one embodiment, the subsea deployment system may be used to install flying leads with integral buoyancy. In another embodiment, the subsea deployment system may be used to install flying leads with separate buoyancy modules. The installation sling assembly may be used with the subsea deployment system or with other systems to deploy flying leads subsea. The universal removable cartridge may be interchanged for use on a horizontal drive unit and a mud mat.

In combination, the loose tube flying lead includes: a) a pair of improved cobra head assemblies, each being able to receive a variety of different stab-plates with minimal modification; b) a pair of bend limiters, one extending from each cobra head assembly and c) an elongate bundle of non-constrained interior conduits surrounded by an over-hose, the over-hose being connected to each bend limiter. The over-hose may rotate independently of the bend limiters and the cobra head assemblies.

A method and apparatus to produce a non-helically wound subsea umbilical is disclosed. The apparatus to produce a non-helically wound umbilical may be portable to facilitate manufacturing of subsea umbilicals in remote locations. This apparatus is smaller and more economical to build and operate than conventional cabling machines that currently are used by many manufactures to produce helically wound subsea umbilicals.

A deep water operations system includes a submersible vessel including a propulsion system for operating the vessel on and beneath the surface of a body of water. The vessel will operate on the water surface to travel to a designated site and then submerge beneath the surface to a depth sufficient to avoid surface wave and weather conditions. A surface power buoy is deployable from the vessel at the water surface and connected to the vessel by an umbilical cord and includes a propulsion system, RF vessel communication and a GPS receiver. An ROV launch cage is supported by the vessel by a second umbilical cord and stores and deploys an ROV remotely controlled from the vessel for deep water work and repair activities via the second umbilical cord.
