A flexible membrane variable orifice fluid flow meter which comprises a body, having a fluid conducting passageway therethrough, where the passageway has a first lateral width and second lateral width, and where the second lateral width is greater than the first, a backing bracket having a flat underside disposed within the second lateral width portion of the passageway perpendicularly to the direction of fluid flow and positioned so as to be superimposed over the first lateral width portion of the passageway, where the backing bracket has a lateral width less than the second lateral width but greater than the first lateral width of the passageway, a flexible membrane having head and toe ends, disposed between the flat underside of the backing bracket and the first lateral width portion of the passageway, and secured at its head end between the backing bracket and the body so that under conditions of zero fluid flow rate, the membrane obstructs the passageway across the second lateral width thereof, and differential pressure sensing ports disposed respectively in the first and second width portions of the passageway.

Flexible membrane variable orifice fluid flow meter

A fluid flow control system which can function under a range of input pressures for regulating the flow of fluid as a function of a variable input voltage and having a feedback feature which produces an electrical signal equivalent to the volume of fluid actually flowing from the control system, comprising a pressure balanced valve, a proportional solenoid having a movable shaft responsive to the input voltage and adapted to open the valve, said valve including, a fluid intake chamber having an intake port and a valve port, a fluid discharge chamber having a discharge port, a valve disk and a cooperating valve seat where the valve disk is connected to the shaft of the proportional solenoid so as to open and close the valve, a flexible diaphragm having a centrally disposed piston in contact with the valve disk a pressure equalizing chamber contiguous to the diaphragm, a biasing spring in contact with the piston and exerting a force thereon in a direction toward the valve disk for normally maintaining the valve disk sealed against its valve seat, and a fluid flow measurement device disposed in the discharge port for measuring the fluid flowing from the fluid discharge chamber.

Linear gaseous fuel flow controller

A gaseous fuel management system for an internal combustion engine having a source of gaseous fuel such as LPG or CNG, a throttle control and an exhaust system and having an air intake tube for conducting combustion air into the manifold of the engine and an angularly movable butterfly valve disposed in the air intake tube, responsive to the operation of the throttle control. A fuel delivery bar having an interior longitudinal fuel conducting bore is diametrically disposed in the air intake tube upstream from the butterfly valve and has a plurality of fuel delivery orifices in its downstream facing side which orifices communicate with the interior of the bar. A fuel lane interconnects the interior bore of the fuel delivery bar to the fuel source and an electronically controlled valve meters the amount of fuel admitted to the interior bore of the fuel delivery bar as a function of the oxygen content of the products of combustion in the exhaust system.

Liquid petroleum gas fuel delivery systems

A gaseous fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder with fuel intake and exhaust gas ports and an ignition system and having a controlled air intake system for each of the cylinders of the engine which includes a source of gaseous fuel, a fuel plenum having at least one fuel atomizer nozzle for each cylinder of the engine, where each nozzle is in communication with the air intake system proximate the intake port in each cylinder, a fuel flow rate control device connected between the source of gaseous fuel and the fuel plenum which contains an electronic control unit having a plurality of optimum fuel/air mixture variables as inputs and a modulated pulse width output connected to a linear d.c. motor, the shaft stroke of which controls the operation of a fuel valve for regulating the flow of fuel from the gaseous source to the fuel plenum.
