Systems and methods for setting welding parameters are provided. For example, in certain embodiments, a method includes receiving an input relating to a change in a parameter of welding power of a welding system via a welding system interface. The method also includes displaying a graphical representation of an acceptable range of values for the parameter of the welding power on a display device of the welding system interface, wherein the acceptable range of values is based on other parameters of a welding process being performed by the welding system. The method further includes constraining subsequent manual inputs relating to changes in the parameter of the welding power to the acceptable range of values.

Method for setting welding parameters

A method and apparatus for providing welding-type power is disclosed. The system includes a power supply, a wire feeder, and a controller. The wire feed speed is reduced when the input current exceeds a value to prevent tripping circuit breakers on the power line the welder is connected to. The speed reduction is based on an average current draw exceeding a threshold. The output voltage is reduced if the input current exceeds a second threshold.

System and method for welding with input current limiting

A power conversion assembly for use in a welding power supply includes a power magnetics module and a power electronics module. The power magnetics module includes at least one transformer disposed on a first wind tunnel housing. The power electronics module is separate from and electrically coupled to the power magnetics module. The power electronics module includes switching circuitry and one or more heat sinks to remove heat from the switching circuitry. The switching circuitry and the heat sinks are disposed on a second wind tunnel housing coupled to the first wind tunnel housing.

Modular power conversion system and method

A welding system includes a welder configured to output welding power to generate an arc between a welding electrode and a workpiece. The welding system also includes a power pin configured to be coupled to the welder in a first orientation or a second orientation. The power pin is configured to switch the welding power from a first polarity to a second polarity when the power pin is switched from being coupled to the welder in the first orientation to being coupled to the welder in the second orientation.

A welding system includes an interface having a first input element configured to receive an input relating to a parameter of power delivered to a welding torch from a welding power supply and to alternatively receive an input relating to a thickness of a work piece, a second input element configured to receive an input relating to a rate of advancement of an electrode delivered to the welding torch from a welding wire feeder and to alternatively receive an input relating to a diameter of the electrode, and a third input element configured to receive an input relating to a welding process type. The welding system also includes control circuitry configured to automatically adjust the parameter of the power and the rate of advancement of the electrode based on the input relating to the welding process type selected with the third input element when the second input element receives the input relating to the diameter of the electrode.

Welding parameter selection and notification systems and methods

A welding system includes a power source configured to generate power and deliver the power to a welding electrode. The power source comprises a positive stud and a negative stud. The welding system also includes control circuitry configured to determine whether the welding electrode is properly connected to the positive and negative studs of the power source.

System and method for determining attachment and polarity of a welding electrode

In one embodiment, a system is provided with a welding wire feeder that includes a first wheel having a first rotational direction, and a second wheel having a second rotational direction opposite from the first rotational direction. The first and second wheels are disposed compressively about a wire feed region, and the first and second wheels are drivingly coupled together to output substantially equal tangential speeds in the wire feed region. In addition, the first wheel, or the second wheel, or both the first and second wheels comprise a drive wheel directly coupled to a gear without separately coupling both the drive wheel and the gear to a shaft.

Welding wire feed system and method

In one embodiment, a system is provided with a welding wire feeder that a first wheel having a first rotational direction, and a second wheel having a rotational direction opposite from the first rotational direction. The first and wheels are disposed compressively about a wire feed region, and the first and wheels are drivingly coupled together to output substantially equal tangential in the wire feed region. In addition, the first wheel, or the second wheel, or first and second wheels comprise a drive wheel directly coupled to a gear separately coupling both the drive wheel and the gear to a shaft.

A welding-type device and gas system for use therewith are disclosed. The gas system of the welding-type device includes a canister that is constructed to contain a shielding gas therein and is connectable to the welding-type device. The canister is sized to be mounted to the welding-type device when it is attached thereto such that the welding-type device can be efficiently and conveniently transported from one location to another with the source of shielding gas securely affixed thereto.

A wire feeder and gas system for use therewith is shown. The gas system of the wire feeder includes a canister that is constructed to contain a shielding gas therein and is connectable to the wire feeder. The canister is supported by the wire feeder when it is connected thereto such that the wire feeder can be efficiently and conveniently transported from one location to another with the source of shielding gas securely connected thereto.

Gas system for wire feeding devices

A gas bottle for welding-type devices, a shielding gas system, and a method for providing shielding gas to a weld are disclosed. The gas bottle has a valve constructed to be connected to a welding-type device and is preferably formed to fit within a cavity of a welding-type device. The gas bottle is constructed to provide shielding gas to the welding-type device immediately upon connection of the gas bottle to the welding-type device thereby eliminating a manual valve.
