A conferencing device includes a power supply, a processor, a video out module, and a USB hub in communication with the processor and drawing power from the power supply. The conferencing device is configured to provide power from the power supply to an external host device in communication with the USB hub, receive control signals and video data from the external host device, and place video data from the external host device at a video out port of the conferencing device. Embodiments herein discuss the switching between and/or simultaneous presentation of video data for placement at the video out port as between two or more external host devices connected to the conferencing device based on the control signals sent from the external host devices. The conferencing device may be connected to another conferencing device to create a single logical conferencing device that can handle an expanded number of external host devices.

Systems and methods for participant-controlled video conferencing

A power monitoring device (PMD) can perform real-time remote managing, status reporting and analysis on the health/condition of equipment connected to the PMD. For example, a PMD provides data such as whether the equipment connected is idling, fully operating, malfunctioning, etc. The PMD can turn the power on/off, trigger system alert, and perform time-delayed or special profile programming to manage and monitor equipment usage. A power signature identification capability can identify what equipment such as monitor, laptop, lighting equipment, etc., are being connected. A configuration can be used by the power management device based at least in part on the waveform information (e.g., device model, activity status, etc.). Real-time diagnosis and collection of energy consumption and usage pattern can be aggregated for planning and management. Asset management can be enabled by discovering which models of devices are active and connected to a predetermined power management device.

Systems, methods and devices for remote power management and discovery

A hybrid docking station determines whether native video data exists and can be passed through to a video port or whether a virtual video processor should be activated to provide virtual video data to a video port. For example, a laptop is connected to a hybrid docking station using a USB&#x2122; 3.0 connection. The hybrid docking station recognizes that the USB&#x2122; 3.0 connection includes a native video data and passes the native video data to a DisplayPort&#x2122;. By avoiding activating a virtualized video processor and using native video data, the laptop avoids installing software to communicate with the virtualized video processor and communicates with one or more displays using a native video channel. By avoiding installing software, it simplifies IT's and user's usage and experience with universal docking station.

Systems for managing a workspace are disclosed. A system to manage a workspace includes a plurality of docking stations located at corresponding workstations. Each docking station is configured to provide a network connection and power to a computer device at a corresponding workstation. Each docking station of the plurality of docking stations includes a power input and a network interface to communicate with a network. The system also includes a system computer including a system network interface to communicate with each docking station of the plurality of docking stations via the network.

Adapters and related systems and methods are disclosed. An adapter includes a power input, a data interface, and a universal non-proprietary data and power interface. The adapter is configured to relay communications between a portable electronic device communicatively coupled to the universal non-proprietary data and power interface and a docking station communicatively coupled to the data interface, and provide power to the electronic device through the universal non-proprietary data and power interface. A system includes the adapter. A method includes transmitting power to the portable electronic device through the universal non-proprietary data and power interface, and relaying data communications between the portable electronic device and the docking station through the universal non-proprietary data and power interface.

Adapters, electrical systems, and related methods are disclosed. An adapter includes a universal non-proprietary data and power interface configured to communicatively couple with a docking station, a power output configured to operably couple to a portable communication device, a data interface separate from the power output and configured to communicatively couple with the portable electronic device, and control circuitry. A method includes receiving electrical power and data form a docking station at a universal non-proprietary data and power interface, transmitting power to a portable electronic device through a power output, and relaying data between the portable electronic device and the docking station through a data interface separate from the power output. An electrical system includes an adapter.
