A retrievable landing method and assembly for lowering on a well string into a well bore a retrievable receptacle having a landing shoulder and sealably securing it in position on a tubular member landing seat. The retrievable receptacle is releasably coupled to the well string and after the retrievable receptacle landing shoulder engages the tubular member landing seat, the well string is manipulated to actuate the releasable coupling and release the well string for movement relative to the retrievable receptacle. Latch means associated with the retrievable receptacle are responsive to the well string manipulation to secure the retrievable receptacle sealingly with the well bore tubular member. Thereafter, if desired, hydraulic pressure may be applied between the retrievable receptacle and the well bore tubular member to test the seal, and tension and compression forces may be applied to the retrievable receptacle by manipulating the well string to assure that it is properly positioned and secured to the well bore tubular member.

Retrievable landing method and assembly for a well bore

A manifold arrangement for use with a top drive power unit to enable fluid circulation to be conducted to a well string for well bore conditioning to be effected with cementing plugs in place in the manifold arrangement and for conducting a pumpable substance such as cement to the well string without first circulating it through the top drive power unit.

Manifold arrangement for use with a top drive power unit

For use with a top drive power unit supported for connection with a well string in a well bore to selectively impart longitudinal and/or rotational movement to the well string, a feeder for supplying a pumpable substance such as cement and the like from an external supply source to the interior of the well string in the well bore without first discharging it through the top drive power unit including a tubular member or mandrel extending through an outer housing which is sealably and rotatably supported thereon for relative rotation between the outer housing and the tubular member. The mandrel and outer housing have flow passages for communicating the pumpable substance from an external source to discharge through the outer housing and mandrel into the interior of the well string below the top drive power unit. The mandrel includes an arrangement to releasably position a pump down plug for discharge into the well string and for positioning a barrier to selectively dislodge the barrier into the well string through the mandrel.

Well bore servicing arrangement

Apparatus and method of positioning and seating a retrievable insert landing assembly in a well bore tubular member with a left-hand threaded portion and having a sealing bore above or below the threaded portion. A releasable connecting arrangement secures the landing assembly in a well bore tubular member by engaging with the left-hand threaded portion in the tubular member. The landing assembly has an internal polished bore above the connecting arrangement which slidably and sealingly receives a tubular extension attached to a well string. The connecting arrangement is actuated by lowering the retrievable landing assembly within the tubular member to position the connecting arrangement adjacent the left-hand threaded portion and then lifting up on the landing assembly to lock it with the left-hand threaded portion. The well string is manipulated to actuate the releaseable coupling and disconnect the well string from the landing assembly after it is connected with the tubular member. To retrieve the landing assembly, the well string is manipulated to reconnect it with the retrievable landing assembly. The well string is then manipulated to actuate the connecting arrangement to disconnect the retrievable landing assembly from the tubular member so that it may be retrieved. Thus, the retrievable insert landing assembly is mechanically set and mechanically retrieved merely by manipulating the well string on which the landing assembly is lowered into the well bore.

Retrievable well bore assembly

A liner and a hydraulic liner hanger setting arrangement for setting the liner in a well bore casing includes a setting tool having a tubular mandrel connected in a pipe string to extend through the hydraulic setting arrangement with the liner forming an outer housing surrounding the liner and to form a longitudinally extending annular recess therebetween with one end of the recess exposed to the well bore. Longitudinally extending piston means are sealably engaged in the recess with the piston means having a cone shaped end. Slips are releasably secured to the liner and means are provided to retain and to lock the piston means against premature retraction into the recess. A port in the housing communicates fluid pressure from the mandrel to the housing recess to move said piston means in the recess and engage the cone shaped end thereof with said slips to urge them into engagement with the well bore casing and thus secure the liner in position. Upon lowering the setting tool after the slips engage the casing, seal means on the piston means span the housing port and prevent communication to the recess from the port means when the piston is retracted back into the recess.
