A method for mass-producing graphene composite vehicle components is provided. The method includes injecting a first flux into molten metal contained in a furnace using a first flux injection system and injecting a graphene flux into the molten metal using a second flux injection system. The method includes agitating and homogenizing the molten metal and the graphene flux within the furnace using an agitator. The method includes transferring the molten metal into a mold having an electromagnetic stirring system and then stirring the molten metal with the electromagnetic stirring system until the molten metal solidifies. The electromagnetic stirring system maintains homogenization of the molten metal and the graphene flux.

Method for production of graphene composite components having enhanced thermal conductivity

A paint bell cup for directing a spray of paint onto a surface includes a cup body having an outer surface, an inner conical surface having a circumferential edge, and a stem extending from the outer surface. The stem includes a passage that delivers paint toward the inner conical surface. The cup body includes one or more spray control features that extend along the inner conical surface toward the circumferential edge. The one or more spray control features promote a selected uniform droplet size of the paint traveling from the stem toward the circumferential edge.

A retention clip includes a first clip arm that defines a fastener bore and includes at least one retention finger that extends into the fastener bore. The retention clip also includes a second clip arm spaced apart from the first clip arm. A method of repairing an ultra-large single-piece cast component of a vehicle body. The method includes the steps of locating a damaged portion of the cast component, determining an extent of the damaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, defining a cut-line sectioning off the damaged portion from an undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, cutting along the cut-line to excise the damaged portion from the undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, and joining a replacement piece to the undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component. The replacement piece is fabricated based on the original manufacturer's geometry and dimensional data of the excised damaged portion. The undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component remains on the vehicle body during the repair.

Method of in-situ repair of an ultra-large single-piece casting

A design for repair casting having a repairable ultra-large single-piece casting and a replacement part. The ultra-large single-piece casting includes a main body portion, at least one predefined replaceable portion integrally cast with the main body portion, and a cut-guide delineating the predefined replaceable portion from the main body portion. The cut-guide includes a continuous channel defined on an exterior surface of the single-piece casting. The cut-guide further includes a rib extending from a channel wall on the main body portion. A damaged replaceable portion is excisable from the main-body portion by cutting through the single-piece casting along the cut-guide. The excised damaged replaceable portion may be replaced with the replacement part, which has substantially the same geometry, dimensions, and mechanical properties as an undamaged replaceable portion. The replacement part may be joined to the main body portion by mechanical means or by welding.

Systems and methods are provided for producing powders. The system includes a housing having an enclosure, a crucible configured to produce a melt of a first material, a droplet device configured to receive the melt of the first material from the crucible and produce a flow of droplets of the melt of the first material within the enclosure of the housing, wherein the droplets solidify within the enclosure, and a distribution device configured to propel a second material into the flow of droplets of the first material within the enclosure such that the second material is mixed with the droplets of the first material to produce the powder that includes the first material, the second material, and/or a reaction product thereof.

Systems and methods for producing powders from two or more materials

An engine for a vehicle. The engine includes a cast engine block having a hybrid insert disposed in a fastener bore having rolled internal threads. The hybrid insert includes an internal surface having cut inner diameter (ID) threads and an external surface having rolled outer diameter (OD) threads. The rolled OD threads of the hybrid insert are received in the rolled internal threads of the fastener bore. The hybrid threaded insert may include a bi-metal in which the ID threads are formed of one metal alloy and the OD threads are formed of another metal alloy. Alternatively, the external surface of the hybrid insert may define locking features and the engine block is cast onto these locking features, thereby locking the hybrid insert to the engine block.

An in-mold coating includes graphene and a base material including an unsaturated polyester and/or a vinyl ester monomer. A part includes a main body formed of a polymeric sheet molding compound and an in-mold coating disposed on the main body, where the in-mold coating includes graphene and a base material that comprises an unsaturated polyester and/or a vinyl ester monomer. A method of creating an in-mold coating includes providing a base material comprising at least one of an unsaturated polyester and a vinyl ester monomer, and the method further includes adding graphene to the base material.

In-mold coating with improved flowability

An assembly for a vehicle includes a first member including a plurality of elastically deformable locating protrusions extending outward, and a second member defining a cavity extending inward and including a plurality of elastically deformable compression features disposed within the cavity. The locating protrusions of the first member are disposed within the cavity of the second member in press fit engagement with the compression features of the second member to secure the first member relative to the second member. The average of the elastic deformation between all of the locating protrusions of the first member and all of the compression features of the second member precisely aligns the first member relative to the second member. The assembly may include but is not limited to a multiple unit battery pack, a multiple unit fuel cell pack, a dashboard assembly or adjoining body panels.
