A method and a device for an assistance system, e.g. a parking assistance system, perform an autonomous or semi-autonomous driving maneuver of a vehicle. A camera system generates image data from the surroundings of the vehicle. A processor arrangement processes the image data to produce control information that is used by the assistance system to perform the driving maneuver. If the image data show that a restriction or impediment is present, then the assistance system is put in a safe state.

A brake system for motor vehicles, which brake system can be actuated both by the vehicle driver and also independently of the vehicle driver in a 'brake by wire' operating mode, is preferentially operated in the 'brake by wire' operating mode, and can be operated in at least one fall-back operating mode in which only operation by the vehicle driver is possible. The present invention discloses an electronically controllable brake actuating system for automotive vehicles, including an unpressurized pressure fluid supply reservoir, a pressure source actuatable by an electronic control unit, the pressure of which can be applied to wheel brakes of the vehicle, further including a device for detecting the driver's wish for deceleration as well as valve assemblies inserted upstream of the wheel brakes and connecting the wheel brakes alternatively to the pressure source or the pressure fluid supply reservoir. In order to increase the operational or functional reliability of a system of this type, the present invention discloses the provision of means for detecting gases or air disposed in the system.

Electronically controllable brake actuating system

The present invention discloses a pressure fluid accumulator with a housing having its interior subdivided into two chambers by a media-separating element, the first chamber being filled with a gas and the second chamber being filled with a liquid, and wherein in a hydraulic port a bottom valve is provided whose closure member is operable by the media-separating element and which permits filling the second chamber with liquid and prevents complete evacuation of the second chamber. In order to prevent a damage of the bottom valve and an inadvertent escape of fluid and, thus, ensure a considerable increase in the reliability in operation, according to the present invention, the closure member can be moved by the media-separating element to adopt a position in which it fulfils the function of a hydraulic piston.

A hydraulic brake system with electronic anti-lock control contains, as essential components, a pedal actuated brake pressure transducer (,), electrically actuated inlet and outlet valves (EV,to EV,, AV,to AV,), wheel sensors (S,to S,) and an electronic control circuit (,). The brake pressure transducer (,) is equipped with one or more path sensors (,), for the direct or indirect determination of the pedal path (S). Interdependent with the current driving conditions, the brake situation and the pedal path (S), the anti-lock control is switched from a standard control mode into a safety control mode, which essentially permits only a brake pressure increase in the front wheels and a brake pressure decrease in the rear wheels during an anti-lock control procedure. A limit value (S,) of the pedal advancement is determined interdependent with the driving conditions and the brake situation, and upon exceeding such a switch over takes place into the safety control mode.
