A subsea wireline system for soft landing equipment during installation. The subsea soft landing wireline system includes coarse alignment members that can be part of a tree and interact with a funnel located on the equipment to be installed by the soft landing system. Smaller alignment members can provide fine alignment and also interact with a funnel located on the equipment to be installed. The funnels are used to trap sea water that provides a cushion for the equipment being installed. Once in alignment, trapped water can be released from the funnel via a restricted orifice or a control valve located on an ROV. The system achieves soft landing without the use of a running tool, thus reducing expense.

Soft landing system and method of achieving same

A configurable device interface enhances the ability of a processor to communicate with other devices. A configurable serial interface promotes efficient data transmission and reception. The configurable serial interface includes a source of transmit data that the configurable serial interface may access even while data reception is simultaneously completing.

An architecture for a digital signal processor alleviates the difficulties and complexities normally associated with writing and optimizing programs to avoid stalls during which one instruction awaits the result of a prior instruction. The architecture coordinates the processing of data for multiple instructions through a multiple stage data pipeline. As a result, the architecture not only supports simultaneous execution of multiple programs, but also permits each program to execute without delays caused by inter-relationships between instructions within the program.

Interleaved hardware multithreading processor architecture

A memory update engine provides flexible modification of data in memory. A processor may employ the update engine to update filter coefficients, special effects parameters, signal sample processing instructions, or any other instruction or data during processing. The update engine supports dynamic updating without requiring processor shutdown, thereby allowing the processor to seamlessly continue operation during a live performance.

Dynamic instruction and data updating architecture

A polyhedral ring mirror is manufactured by molding a synthetic resinous blank having in it a cavity in the form of a four-sided pyramid. The wall surfaces of the cavity are metallized to make them light reflective. The blank is then sliced through in a plane normal to the cavity axis to sever from the blank a minor portion, and to leave behind a major portion in which the form of the cavity has been converted into a truncated pyramid having opposite its original opening a smaller opening. The modified blank with the doubly open cavity is placed, smaller opening down, on a printed wire wiring board around a rectangular electrical component on the board to permit visual inspection from a single viewing point above the component, of all of its sides. The size of the large opening of the cavity can be adjusted by slicing away another portion of the blank.

Polyhedral ring mirrors and their manufacture

A dental syringe having an angulated nozzle projecting from one end of a housing. Two coaxial valve operating buttons project from the other end of the housing and are axially operable to supply water, air or both to the nozzle. The operating buttons are connected to coaxial valves within the housing, one of the buttons and its valve being rotatable to change the angular position of the nozzle.

Dental syringe

A dental handpiece control in which a single housing for controlling the flow of air and water to a dental handpiece is combined with a foot pedal. In the housing is a pressure regulator directly operated by the foot pedal and a water valve controlled by air from the pressure regulator. A switching valve operated by push buttons adjacent the foot pedal controls the flow of air to the water valve, the operation of the push buttons determining whether the handpiece is operated on an air mode or an air/water mode. The water valve is designed to eliminate drip when the instrument is shut off by drawing water from the handpiece toward the control unit upon relief of air pressure from the water valve.
