An apparatus is described. The apparatus includes a first portion having a first material and a first interface surface. A second portion having a second material that is different than the first material is included. The second portion has a second interface surface that is connected to the first interface surface of the first portion. A method of manufacturing an apparatus is described. The method includes adhering a first portion of the apparatus to a second portion of the apparatus to create a combined portion. After adhering the first portion of the apparatus to the second portion of the apparatus to create the combined portion, the combined portion of the apparatus is treated.

Systems and apparatus having joined portions and methods of manufacture

A device is disclosed, which may include a color-filter layer and a thin-film transistor (TFT) layer. The TFT layer may have an alignment layer. The device may have spacers, between the color-filter layer and the TFT layer, that form space between the color-filter layer and the TFT layer for liquid crystals. The device may include a scratch-resistant coating on the alignment layer of the TFT layer.

To address the issue of securely joining thin sections of magnesium housing, a computing device with a housing, a metal strip, and a plastic interlock structure is provided. The housing may include adjacently arranged first and second metal sections separated by a void. The metal strip may have a hole with an undercut region formed therein, and it may be joined to a surface of one of the metal sections. The plastic interlock structure may be positioned at least partially in the void, and the metal strip may be embedded in the plastic interlock structure to strengthen the joint between the metal sections of the housing. The plastic interlock structure may physically and electrically isolate adjacent metal sections from one another to form an antenna that permits transmission of radio waves.

Multi-antenna systems, including mobile devices having multiple antennas, are provided herein. A first antenna and a second antenna are operable at two or more of the same non-overlapping communication frequency bands. The first antenna and the second antenna are closely spaced and have different fundamental modes of operation such that the first antenna and second antenna are substantially isolated at the two or more non-overlapping communication frequency bands. The first antenna and second antenna having different fundamental modes can be a linear antenna, such as a monopole, dipole, PIFA, or PILA, and an aperture antenna, such as a slot or loop antenna.

A translucent-to-clear, plasticized PVC thermoplastic polymeric matrix gel composition comprising (i) a high loading of fragrance composition and/or odor counteractant(s)&#x2014;preferably greater than about 85%; (ii) from about 4% to about 25% of a plastisol with a Shore hardness of from about 60 to about 95 that is liquid at room temperature; and, optionally, (iii) an evaporation/firmness controlling agent. The high loading of fragrance and/or odor counteractants in the polymeric matrix gel composition of the invention provides a desired aroma to an environment in a persistent manner over an extended period of time.
