An X-ray generation system is configured to generate an X-ray beam configured to be delivered to a patient undergoing radiation therapy. The X-ray generation system includes a linear accelerator system configured to generate an electron beam configured to impinge a target configured to respond to the incident electron beam by emitting an X-ray beam configured to deliver an X-ray dose rate to the patient in a range of 40 Gy/s to 1000 Gy/s within a treatment delivery window.

Linear accelerator for generating high X-ray doses

A linear accelerator head for use in a medical radiation therapy system can include a housing, an electron generator configured to emit electrons along a beam path, and a microwave generation assembly. The linear accelerator head may include a waveguide that is configured to contain a standing or travelling microwave. The waveguide can include a plurality of cells that are disposed adjacent one another, wherein each of the plurality of cells may define an aperture configured to receive electrons therethrough. The linear accelerator head can further include a converter and a primary collimator.

Embodiments disclosed herein include a resonator for use in quantum computing. The resonator can include a housing that is disposed along a resonator axis. The housing can have a first portion extending from a housing distal end to near a qubit location and a second portion extending from near the qubit location to a housing proximal end. The housing can define a cavity extending from a cavity proximal end to a cavity distal end along a portion of the resonator axis. The housing can include a protrusion extending axially from the housing distal end along the resonator axis to near the qubit location. A proximal portion of the protrusion can include a tapered portion. The resonator can include a qubit extending into the cavity at the qubit location.

The first waveguide portion can include a first plurality of cell portions and a first iris portion that is disposed between two of the first plurality of cell portions. The first waveguide portion can further include a first bonding surface. The second waveguide portion can include a second plurality of cell portions and a second iris portion that is disposed between two of the second plurality of cell portions. A high gradient linear accelerating structure can propagate high frequency waves at a negative harmonic to accelerate low-energy ions. The linear accelerating structure can provide a gradient of 50 MV/m for particles at a &#x3b2; of between 0.3 and 0.4. The high gradient structure can be a part of a linear accelerator configured to provide an energy range from an ion source to 450 MeV/u forCand 250 MeV for protons. The linear accelerator can include one or more of the following sections: a radiofrequency quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator operating at the sub-harmonic of the S-band frequency, a high gradient structure for the energy range from &#x2dc;45 MeV/u to &#x2dc;450 MeV/u.

Compact high gradient ion accelerating structure

In an electron accelerator, a conductive housing defines a cavity. Photoelectrons are emitted from a photocathode into the cavity when light is applied to the photocathode. Via an opening formed in a wall of the conductive housing, the photoelectrons are output to the outside of the cavity. Coolant is flowed through a flow path formed in the wall of the conductive housing, to suppress a temperature rise of the conductive housing. The wall of the conductive housing is made by a metal additive manufacturing technique in such a way as to produce a flow path that has a gentle trajectory without discontinuities in gradient.
