A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a base providing a compartment with an opening, a door moveable between open and closed positions and an interface between the base and the door to facilitate movement of the door. The interface may comprise a set of projections on the door to engage a set of guides on the base. The set of projections may comprise a set of extrusions. The door may comprise a substrate and a cover layer; the substrate may be formed by extrusion. The component may comprise at least one of a vehicle trim component, a console, a center console, a floor console, a storage compartment, an arm rest. A method of making a component is also disclosed. The component may comprise a base and a door comprising a cover and a carrier. The carrier may be formed by extruding a polymer material.

Vehicle interior component

A component for vehicle interior is disclosed. The component may comprise a base, an armrest configured to move relative to the base from a retracted position to an extended position, a roller coupled to the armrest configured to allow movement of the armrest relative to the base and a rail coupled to the base. The rail may be configured to allow movement of the armrest relative to the base along a non-linear path. The rail may comprise a curved rail, a curved guide, or a curved track. The non-linear path may be aligned with a contour of the base. The non-linear path may reduce a gap between the armrest and the base or provide improved comfort. The roller may comprise a first rolling bearing, a second roller bearing and a third roller bearing. The component may comprise a door configured to selectively cover and uncover a storage compartment.

Console for vehicle interior

A component for a vehicle interior configured to deform under a load is disclosed. An armrest for a vehicle interior configured to deform under a load is disclosed. A method for forming the armrest is disclosed. The armrest may comprise a substrate and base formed on the substrate. The base may comprise a core and a surface (or skin). The core may comprise a material configured to deform under a load (e.g. impact). The method for forming the armrest may comprise the steps of: (a) placing the substrate in a mold and (b) forming the base on the substrate. A coating may be provided in the mold. The substrate may be formed from a plastic material such as a thermoplastic material to provide a structure. The base of the armrest may be formed from a plastic material such as a polyurethane foam material to form the core with integral surface/skin.

Component for vehicle interior

An armrest assembly for a vehicle includes a displaceable armrest element and a linkage assembly. The linkage assembly is configured for translating the displaceable armrest element between a deployed configuration and a folded configuration. The linkage assembly includes a spring-actuated pivoting over-center link configured to disengage the linkage assembly to allow the displaceable armrest element to rotate. An actuator is provided which on sensing an impact ruptures a frangible fastener holding the over-center link in a substantially parallel orientation to at least one drive link, thereby allowing the spring-actuated over-center linkage to pivot relative to the at least one drive link.

Dual function stowable armrest

A receptacle for a vehicle interior is configured to provide light from a light source. The receptacle includes a base, a wall extending from the base to form an opening and providing an outlet into the opening, a guide for transmitting light along the base, and a guide for transmitting light along the wall. When light is provided beneath the base by the light source, light is transmitted through the guide along the base and into the guide along the wall.

Cup holder assembly

A vehicle interior component providing a support structure such as an adjustable vehicle armrest may be configured to allow for sliding movement between a retracted position and an extended position to adjust armrest length as desired by the vehicle occupant. A cover such as a tambour door may be provided over at least part of the support structure/armrest and may be opened and closed to allow access to storage within the armrest/support structure. The armrest may be supported by structure such as rails (e.g. sliding/translating rails); a set of tracks may be provided to facilitate movement and provide support for the cover (e.g. tambour door) as the armrest is moved between the retracted position and extended position.

A console for a vehicle interior comprises a structure comprising a storage volume and an armrest comprising a tambour door and configured for adjustment from a first position to a second position. The tambour door of the armrest is configured for movement to uncover the storage volume. The vehicle interior component comprises a base and an armrest assembly. The armrest assembly is configured for movement between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the base. The cover of the armrest assembly is configured to move from a closed position to an open position while the armrest assembly is in the raised position and in the lowered position. The console assembly comprises a base and a cover assembly comprising a housing and providing a cover. The cover is configured for movement relative to the base and the housing and movement between a raised position and a lowered position.

A cup holder assembly includes a liner configured to support a beverage container and a resilient element with a light transmissive element formed within the liner and configured to receive light from a light source to illuminate an inner surface of the liner.

An airbag deployment system is provided that includes a support structure, and a fabric material configured to form a show surface of a vehicle interior panel. A first portion of the fabric material is coupled to the support structure by a rigid connection, a second portion of the fabric material is coupled to the support structure by a detachable connection, and the detachable connection is configured to release the second portion of the fabric material from the support structure upon contact between an airbag and the fabric material.

A system for a motor vehicle with a first assembly having a first substrate and a rail extending outwardly from the first substrate. The system also includes a second assembly having a second substrate and a clamp extending outwardly from the second substrate. The clamp is slidably coupled to the rail and configured to apply a lateral force to the rail to dampen longitudinal motion of the second assembly relative to the first assembly.

Mechanism for vehicle interior component

A vehicle armrest is designed to allow for sliding movement between retracted and extended positions as desired by the vehicle occupant. A tambour door is disposed over at least part of the armrest, and may be moved fore and aft to allow access to storage volumes within the armrest or a support structure. The armrest is supported by sliding structures, such as engaged rails, and the tambour door is supported by tracks, one of which is fixed or stationary, and the other of which moves with the armrest. In this manner, the tambour door may be fully supported as it moves fore and aft, whether the armrest is in the retracted or extended position.

A vehicle trim panel is illuminated from behind to create an illuminated design (e.g., logo and/or lettering) includes a transparent layer and an opaque layer with an opening(s) in the shape of the design. An opaque or partially opaque design piece may be placed over the opening(s) in the opaque layer and be lit around its edges. The vehicle trim panel may be formed by forming a panel with a transparent layer and an opaque layer. An opening in the opaque layer may be formed by removing opaque material (e.g., by machining or laser etching) or by masking (the mask is placed between the opaque layer and transparent layer and removed taking a portion of the opaque layer with it). A design piece may be placed over the location of the opening in the opaque layer.

Illuminated trim panels

A lighting system is provided that includes an interior trim component having a light transmissive element. The interior trim component is configured to move between a first position and a second position. The vehicle lighting system also includes a light source optically coupled to the light transmissive element at least while the interior trim component is located in the first position. The light source is configured to illuminate a region of a vehicle interior.
