Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for generating personalized and contextually relevant cards and delivering the cards to card clients for presentation to a user.

Contextual card generation and delivery

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for generating cards that include personalized content that is relevant to tastes or preferences of a user and contextually relevant to a current, historical, or future use context of a user device. The card content is determined to be relevant to a current use context of a user device based on an evaluation of contextual data with respect to constraints associated with the card. The card content is transmitted to a card client for presentation via a user interface of the client when the card content is deemed relevant to the current use context of the device.

A system and method are disclosed for intelligent grouping and presentation of search results. In embodiments, the present technology groups results into relevant categories, and presents the categorized results on a single screen or small set of screens. The most relevant results for each category may be displayed in graphical tiles that a user may select to view more details on the search results. Alternatively, a user may select, or pivot on, a category heading to get more results for a given category.

While playing back video on a display device, a user request to display a navigation bar corresponding to the video is received. In response to receiving the user request, the navigation bar is displayed on the display device. This navigation bar includes multiple thumbnails each corresponding to a different location in the video. A user selection of one of the multiple thumbnails is received, and playing of the video is changed to begin playing at a location corresponding to the selected thumbnail.

Nested user interfaces for multiple displays is described. In embodiment(s), user interface panels can be generated for individual display on a small screen device as well as for display together to form a nested user interface on a larger display device. Each user interface panel can be individually displayed to encompass a small display screen on the small screen device. Additionally, a television client device can render a nested user interface that includes a plurality of the user interface panels displayed together to form the nested user interface on a larger display device.

A program segments display bar is described. In embodiment(s), a program segments display bar has still images that can include scene images and advertisement images. The scene images can each correspond to a different segment of television media content, such as a movie or television program, and are displayed in the program segments display bar to indicate a sequence of the television media content. The advertisement images can each correspond to a different advertisement and can be displayed in the program segments display bar to indicate where the different advertisements are included with the television media content. The program segments display bar can also include a focus that can be positioned proximate a still image to indicate that the still image is selectable.

Techniques are described to perform electronic program guide (EPG) search. In an implementation, electronic program guide (EPG) data is searched that describes television content and has a plurality of categories. Results of the search are output in an EPG and arranged according to one or more of the categories.

Various technologies for delivering contextual television advertisement are described. A user selection of a media title is received. The media title has an associated set of contextual metadata that includes information regarding the media title. A request for the media title is forwarded to a first server and an advertisement request including the set of contextual metadata is forwarded to a second server. The second server uses the set of contextual metadata to retrieve contextual television advertisement information. The contextual television advertisement information and the media title are received from the second server and the first server respectively. Also, the contextual television advertisement information and the media title are played.

Recorded programs ranked based on social networks is described. In embodiment(s), a content distributor maintains recorded on-demand assets that can be requested by client devices to render as television media content for viewing. For a Network Digital Video Recording (nDVR) system, the recorded on-demand assets are recorded when initially distributed to the client devices as scheduled television media content. The content distributor can form a social network of members based on association(s) of viewers that correspond to one or more of the client devices, and can determine recommended on-demand assets from different ones of the recorded on-demand assets for the members of the social network. The content distributor can then communicate a recommended on-demand asset to a client device that corresponds to a member of the social network where the recommended on-demand asset is communicated for viewing without receiving a viewer selection of the recommended on-demand asset.

Content aware adaptive display is described. In embodiment(s), a media image can be displayed on an integrated display of a media device. The media device can detect that a display device is proximate the media device, determine a display orientation for the media image at the display device, and communicate the media image to the display device that then displays the media image in the determined display orientation.

Media asset pivot navigation is described. In various embodiments, collections of media assets are determined from relational metadata that corresponds to the media assets in a respective collection. Each collection of media assets are represented as a navigation axis along which the media assets in a respective collection can be located, and a media asset can be associated with multiple collections of media assets based on the relational metadata. A media asset navigation interface is generated for display from which the collections of media assets can be navigated to locate the media assets for selection. The media asset navigation interface includes a display of a collection of media assets represented as a navigation axis. A navigation input can be received to pivot from the navigation axis to an alternate navigation axis and initiate a display of an additional collection of media assets that are represented as the alternate navigation axis.

A safety stud setter includes a spacer bar along with a stud flange disposed at one end of the spacer bar for abutting a first stud disposed at a right angle to a transverse stud. A stud gripper is disposed at another end of a spacer bar for positioning a second stud disposed at a right angle to the transverse stud at a preselected distance from the stud and a lever mechanism is provided for forcing the second stud against the stud base to enable nailing of the second stud to the transverse stud through the stud base without movement of the second stud from the transverse stud. Safety guides are provided for positioning a nail gun head against the stud base and preventing escape of fired nails.

A continuous selection graph can be displayed as a graphical user interface, where the continuous selection graph includes a similarity continuum to indicate media content that is progressively similar, and includes an axis of identifying criteria for the media content. The axis of identifying criteria for the media content associates the media content along the similarity continuum, where the axis of identifying criteria is displayed perpendicular to the similarity continuum.

The present disclosure relates to displaying full scale images with overlaid similar scaled images and a graphical user device in a display of a client device. The client device receives video streams of the full scale images and scaled images. The video streams are broadcast independent of one another, and a user of the client device may manipulate the format of the images of either or both streams, and/or place the scaled image on any portion of the full scaled image. The graphical user interface is placed so it does not obscure the scaled image. Alternatively a single video stream may be received by the client device. When a single video stream is received, the client device creates two video streams, one stream comprising full scale images and the other stream comprising scaled images. The full scale image is overlaid with the scaled image and the graphical user interface.
