A sliding vane pump is provided with side plates disposed on opposing sides of the rotor with through holes and grooves in the side plates that cooperate with passageways disposed in the seal head and access head for providing fluid communication to the rotor bearings. As a result, the fluid being pumped is used to lubricate and cool the rotor bearings. Annular grooves disposed in the side plates provide further cooling and lubrication between the side plates and the rotor as well as between the side plates and the seal head and access head. The flow through the pump may be easily reversed by rotating the side plates 180.degree., switching flow through the passageways in the seal head and access head by plugging one passageway and opening another passageway as well as rotating the vanes 180.degree.. The reversal of the flow may be accomplished without disconnecting the companion piping, the prime mover or the electrical wiring. The side plates disposed on either side of the rotor are also interchangeable and present different wear surfaces to the rotor, depending upon the side of the rotor on which they are placed. Accordingly, the interchangeability of the side plates enables the side plates to be used on both sides of the rotor to extend the working life of the side plates. Galling between the cam and the case is avoided through the use of a tapered cam liner which limits the surface contact between the case and the cam liner.

Rotary pump

A pressure relief or fluid bypass valve is provided which includes a valve body comprising a first piston, a second piston and a seating land disposed between the first and second pistons. The first piston is directed toward the discharge side of the fluid system; the second piston is disposed on the suction side of the fluid system. The first piston is configured to include an entrance orifice disposed toward the discharge side of the system and at least one exit orifice disposed between the second piston and the entrance orifice. A passageway provides fluid communication between the entrance orifice and the exit orifice. When the valve is in the fully open position, fluid is communicated from the discharge side, through the entrance orifice, through the passageway and out through the exit orifice to the suction side. The valve assembly includes a spring or other biasing means for biasing the valve body into the closed or sealed position.

Internal relief and bypass valve for pumps and piping systems

A sliding vane pump having an inside liner with a constant radius pump arc and a constant radius stop arc, connected together by cycloidal arcs. The liner has inlet slots arranged extending around a perimeter of a liner extending into the pump arc for maximum filling of the pumping volume. A herringbone-shaped slot arrangement is provided on a outlet side which increases vane life, increases sealing around the vanes on the outlet side, and decreases liner wear. A relief/fill porting arrangement is provided to pressurize the fluid in the pump chamber, or alternately to relieve pressure from the pump chamber. An improved thrust absorber is described particularly useful for truck mounting of the pump. An asymmetrical inside profile for the liner assists in pump operation by providing a fluid mathematical profile which approaches zero acceleration forces at the point of tangency.

Vane pump

A suction manifold unit for mounting on a pump fluid end in association with at least one further suction manifold unit to provide a suction manifold assembly for supplying fluid to suction cylinders of such a pump fluid end. The manifold unit has at least one supply duct leading to its interior, and outlet duct for leading fluid from the supply duct to a suction cylinder during use, and a supply conduit sealingly associated with the supply duct, the supply conduit being adjustable between a retracted position where it will be spaced from another manifold unit mounted relatively to such a pump fluid end, and an extended position for engaging sealingly with a corresponding supply duct of such a further manifold unit to place the manifold units in communication with each other.

A pipeline corrosion coupon holder apparatus for large diameter pipelines which has a coupon housing assembly mounted adjacent the pipeline with the coupon housing assembly allowing access to a coupon withdrawn from the pipeline for removal and replacement of the coupon through the coupon housing assembly without removal of the coupon through a shaft housing assembly which has a reciprocally mounted shaft for insertion and retrieval of the coupon from the large diameter pipeline.

Corrosion coupon holder apparatus

A check valve has a clapper pivotally mounted inside of a flow passage which clapper is formed by investment casting. The clapper of the check valve will only allow fluid flow in one direction. The face of the check valve has an annular groove formed therein and a recessed center portion. After a base surface is cut in the backside of the clapper, a molded rubber seal is formed on the face of the clapper with the seal extending from the annular groove with raised annular surfaces and a web covering the center portion. Upon receiving reverse flow through the check valve, the clapper will immediately close and seal against a valve surface. The raised annular surfaces deform into the annular recess therebetween allowing metal-to-metal contact between the clapper and valve surface, while simultaneously maintaining a good rubber seal contact.

A gate valve having a valve body particularly designed and constructed of a 'slim' design, or of a minimum overall length whereby the valve may be interposed in a flow line in a minimum of space.

Water gate valve

An improved hydraulic control means for check valves to prevent slamming of a clapper against a seat. The clapper of the check valve is connected via a crosshead to an hydraulic cylinder and a piston contained therein controls the closing of the check valve. The hydraulic cylinder has means restricting flow of fluid from below the piston in the hydraulic cylinder to above the piston in the hydraulic cylinder, but permits unrestricted flow in the opposite direction. Relief valves are included to prevent overpressurization in the hydraulic cylinder. A precharged accumulator allows for fluid expansion and contraction in the hydraulic cylinder, plus replacing fluid lost by leakage.
