Methods, devices, apparatus and kits for amplifying and detecting nucleic acid are provided. The apparatus is a thermal cycling device that operates in conjunction with a reaction/detection unit. A sample is loaded into a reaction chamber of the device which is then sealably mated with a detection chamber to form a sealed reaction/detection unit that is virtually irreversibly closed. One or more heating elements of the thermal cycling apparatus applies a desired temperature to the reaction/detection device to amplify target nucleic acid in the sample. The reaction mixture is then transferred to the detection chamber and amplified target nucleic acid is immobilized on a support in the detection chamber. A detection system associated with the apparatus detects and analyzes the immobilized amplified nucleic acid target. Kits include the reaction/detection units and reagents for amplification.

Improved medical devices for use between a feeding tube set and a catheter include a universal adaptor having a configuration permitting use of same with Y-connectors of various sizes, a Y-connector interlockable with the aforesaid adaptor, and an adaptor hood usable with the adaptor either as a protective shroud therefor or as a supplemental adaptor therewith.

A wheel is disclosed that has a built-in hub for receiving an axle. The wheel includes an annular outer rim, and a pair of circular webs that are received in the rim. Each of the webs includes an inner annular ring. The annular ring on one of the webs defines a through-passageway, and the annular ring on the other web defines an aperture having an open end that communicates with the passageway and an opposite closed end. The closed end of the other web is defined by a wall of the other web. The wall of the other web, together with the annular ring on the other web, define a built-in hub for limiting insertion of the axle onto the wheel and for covering the axle. The need for a separate hub component that can fall off and become lost is thereby eliminated.

A one-piece fastener has an upper end that is detachably secured to a first panel and a lower end that is secured to a second panel. The lower end includes a flange that is receivable in an aperture in the second panel and bears against the wall of the aperture to minimize rocking movement of the fastener relative to the second panel. A lower portion of the flange is tapered to facilitate alignment of the flange within the aperture in the second panel.

A support for securing a circuit board on an apertured panel, wherein the support has a slot for slideably receiving and a tab for releaseably holding a circuit board therein, and a quarter turn fastener engageable in the panel aperture, said fastener and aperture having cooperating means for receiving said support and locking means for mounting the fastener upright on the panel upon manipulating the fastener a quarter turn in the aperture.

A quarter turn locking fastener device consisting of a socket part adapted to snap engage into an apertured chassis and to support an apertured panel spaced apart from the chassis, and a complemental stud part adapted for selected locking and unlocking engagement through the panel aperture and into the socket part upon a quarter turn of the stud part relative to the socket part to removably secure the panel spaced apart from and on the chassis and to lock the socket part to the chassis when the stud part is in locked condition.

A chassis connector and circuit board clip for electronic equipment, said clip having a pair of upright spaced apart legs, each having anchor means for mounting in a slotted chassis, a wall bridging the legs for supporting a circuit board spaced apart from and in alignment with a connector, and a locking tooth carried by one of the legs for holding the edge of an aligned circuit board relative to the chassis and connector. The clip is molded in one piece from plastic dielectric insulating material and one modification thereof also includes means for securing the connector to the chassis.
