The disclosure relates to compositions for use before, during, and/or after the hair is subject to a process for altering the color thereof. The compositions comprise a combination of citric acid and at least one urea compound. The compositions provide strength and other benefits to treated hair. The disclosure also relates to methods of using the compositions as well as kits comprising the compositions.

Compositions and methods for treating hair

The present disclosure is drawn to methods for oxidatively bleaching or coloring hair. The methods employ a fortifying composition and a conditioning composition, which are used in various routines. Treating hair according to the routines prevent, minimize, or mitigate damage to the hair caused by the oxidative bleaching or coloring process. The fortifying composition includes: (a) citric acid, a salt thereof, or a combination thereof; (b) cyclodextrin, a salt thereof, or a combination thereof; (c) one or more polyols; and (d) water. The conditioning composition includes: (a) one or more cationic surfactants; (b) one or more non-silicone fatty compounds; (c) one or more silicone oils; and (d) and water. The methods strengthen the hair, improve curl retention of the hair, prevent frizz of the hair, and remediate damage to the hair caused by chemical bleaching or coloring of the hair.

Methods for oxidatively bleaching or coloring hair without damaging the hair

Cosmetic compositions, kits thereof, and methods of making and using such cosmetic compositions. The cosmetic compositions typically include about 20 to about 95 wt. % of a polyol; about 5 to about 70 wt. % of one or more monoalcohols having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms; about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more cationic surfactants; about 0.1 to about 20 wt. % of one or more fatty compounds; and about 1 to about 15 wt. % of a combination of a urea compound and citric acid, wherein all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. The cosmetic compositions have a weight ratio of polyol to monoalcohol(s) that is from 20:1 to 1:20. Additionally, the cosmetic compositions typically have a mole ratio of citric acid to urea compound of that is about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10.

Cosmetic compositions, kits thereof, and methods for making and using the same

Cosmetic compositions, kits thereof, and methods of making and using such cosmetic compositions. The cosmetic compositions comprising about 0.1 to about 25 wt. % of citric acid, about 0.2 to about 40 wt. % of one or more urea compound, and about 20 wt. % or more water wherein all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. Additionally, the cosmetic compositions are typically formulated to have a molar ratio of the citric acid of (a) to the urea compound of (b) is 1 or less.

Hair treatment compositions, kits for producing such hair treatment compositions, and methods for using such kits and/or hair treatment compositions are provided for treating hair. Methods for treating hair typically include: obtaining a first composition comprising one or more polysaccharides with amine group(s) and water; adding ascorbic acid and one or more peroxides, peroxo compounds, or combinations thereof to the first composition to obtain a second composition; applying the second composition to hair; and heating the hair, which has the second composition applied thereto, to a temperature above 25° C. Kits for improving hair typically include a first composition comprising one or more polysaccharides with amine group(s) and water; a second composition comprising up to 100 wt. % of ascorbic acid; and a third composition comprising a peroxide, a peroxo compound, or a combination thereof, wherein the first composition, the second composition, and the third composition are separately contained.

Hair treatment compositions, kits, and methods of use

The disclosure relates to systems for altering the color of the hair, comprising a pre-treatment composition comprising at least one amine-based compound and a dyeing composition comprising at least one microtube-dye composite. The disclosure also relates to methods of altering the color of the hair using the systems, as well as kits comprising the systems.

Systems, methods, and kits for altering the color of the hair

The present disclosure relates to hair-treatment compositions, typically in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion, comprising: (a) one or more monosaccharides with amine group(s); (b) one or more polysaccharides with amine group(s); wherein (a) and (b) are solubilized in an aqueous phase of the oil-in-water emulsion; (c) one or more oils; (d) one or more nonionic emulsifiers; and (e) water. The compositions strengthen hair fibers and provide additional cosmetic improvements to the hair such as conditioning, detangling, softness, suppleness, moisturizing, and manageability. Methods of treating hair with the compositions are also described. The methods include applying the composition to wet or damp hair, drying the hair (for example, with a blow dryer) and treating the hair with heat (for example, with a hot iron).

Hair-treatment compositions and methods of use

The disclosure relates to compositions and methods for removing direct dyes from hair, the methods comprising contacting hair with a composition comprising (i) at least one organic salt selected from imidazolium-based compounds and/or ammonium-based compounds, and (ii) at least one surfactant. The compositions can further contain at least one co-surfactant and/or cyclic compound.

Methods and compositions for removing color from color-treated hair

The instant disclosure relates hair care compositions comprising ionic liquids or ionic mixtures. Ionic liquids or ionic mixtures are combined with a cosmetically acceptable carrier to form ready-to-use hair care compositions. The ionic liquids and the ionic mixtures are formed from; (1) thiolactic acid and/or one or more alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts thereof; and (2) one or more amine compounds, and/or one or more ammonium cationic compounds, and/or one or more salts thereof. The ionic liquids, the ionic mixtures, and the hair care compositions comprising the ionic liquids or the ionic mixtures, are useful in methods for preventing hair damage, shaping hair, caring for hair, etc.

Hair care compositions comprising thiolactic acid-based ionic liquids or thiolactic acid-based ionic mixtures

Provided are methods of treating hair, the method comprising: contacting the hair with a mixture comprising: i. an ionic liquid comprising an imidazolium-based compound or ammonium-based compound, and ii. an anionic surfactant. In certain methods, the mixture further comprises a cationic direct dye.

Methods and compositions for improving hair color fastness and rejuvenating hair color

The disclosure relates to compositions and methods for removing direct dyes from hair, the methods comprising contacting hair with a composition comprising at least one organic salt selected from imidazolium-based compounds and/or ammonium-based compounds.
