A method and system of theft detection for a vehicle are provided. The method comprises providing a telematics module, a body control module and an engine control module disposed in the vehicle having components and at least one theft-detected state. The body control module is in communication with the telematics module and the engine control module. The telematics module is in further communication with a backend server disposed remotely from the vehicle. The method further comprises detecting at least one event by the body control module defining a theft flag. The method further comprises detecting disablement of the telematics module from one of the body control module and the backend server. The method further comprises activating the at least one theft-detected state of the vehicle when the theft flag and disablement of the telematics module are detected.

Method of vehicle theft detection

Methods and apparatus are provided for handling the response sequence with geometric elimination of a plurality of keyless fobs. The remote fobs are interrogated with a body control module. A first signal is issued from a first set of remote fobs in a first time slot in response to the interrogation signal from the body control module. A second signal is issued from a second set of remote fobs in a second time slot in response to the interrogation signal from the body control module. The second time slot differs from the first time slot. A first remote fob is authenticated when the first signal is received by the body control module in a free and clear state. The second remote fob is authenticated when the second signal is received by the body control module in the free and clear state. If neither the first nor second signals are received in the free and clear state, the remote fobs are re-interrogated by the body control module.

A vehicle door lock system includes an interior door handle for a rear door. A door release switch is mechanically connected to the interior door handle. A child door lock switch for the rear door is accessible by a driver. A power release door latch for the rear door is electrically connected to the door release switch and mechanically connected to the interior door handle. A mechanical child door lock switch is located on the rear door and that is mechanically connected to the power release door latch. A control module communicates with the child door lock switch, the power release door latch and the door release switch. The control module is configured to electrically actuate the power release door latch when the mechanical child door lock switch is in a locked position, the child door lock switch has an unlocked state and the door release switch is in an active state.

A relay attack deterrence system includes a mobile platform including a plurality of mobile platform transmitter components and a mobile platform receiver component provided therein. The system further includes a fob device having a fob receiver component, a fob transmitter component, and a motion sensor component configured to produce motion information. The fob device is configured to receive, at the fob receiver component, one or more first signals from at least one of the plurality of mobile platform transmitter components and to selectably transmit, to the mobile platform receiver component, a second signal based on the motion information and position information derived from the one or more first signals.

An automated vehicle configuration system for a host vehicle is presented here. The system includes a driver identifier module onboard the host vehicle, and a subsystem onboard the vehicle. The driver identifier module has a database and a processor device to execute processor-executable instructions. The database has database objects, each having a driver identifier, at least one key fob code, and at least one mobile device identifier. The processor device executes the instructions to dynamically populate and update the database objects such that key fob codes are dynamically assigned and reassigned to driver identifiers. The subsystem has user-specific configurable settings associated with the driver identifier objects. Selection of an active driver identifier results in the loading of corresponding settings for the subsystem.

Methods and apparatus are provided to dynamically configure a passive entry, passive start system to issue passive and active commands upon authentication of a remote keyless fob with a body control module in a given vehicle selected from a fleet of vehicles. In particular, a UID secret key data field is generated in the FOB data store using a fleet secret key data field and a vehicle secret key field retrieved from the BCM data store. A wakeup pattern data field stored in the FOB data store is generated with a fleet wakeup pattern data field and a master wakeup pattern data field retrieved from the BCM data store such that an approach wakeup pattern data field stored in the BCM data field is written to an approach wakeup pattern data field in the FOB data store when the remote fob is authenticated with the body control module.

A system and method is provided for authenticating a vehicle equipped with a passive keyless system. The method includes sending one or more initial challenge signal(s) from a vehicle module to a portable keyfob in response to a passive keyless start attempt of the vehicle, the initial challenge signal(s) being sent before a successful passive keyless start of the vehicle; sending one or more secondary challenge signal(s) from the vehicle module to the portable keyfob in response to at least one trigger event and after a successful passive keyless start of the vehicle; initiating an active authentication to confirm the presence of an authorized driver in the vehicle if a valid response to the secondary challenge signal(s) is not received by the vehicle module; and performing one or more remedial action(s) if a valid response to the active authentication is not received.

Method and system for authenticating vehicle equipped with passive keyless system

Passive verification of operator presence in handling requests for vehicle includes initiating activation of a power-operated vehicle component that is subject to a supervised control mechanism. The activation is initiated in response to a request from an operator-controlled device. The passive verification also includes verifying a presence of the operator-controlled device indicative of a presence of an operator of a vehicle, transmitting intermittent signals to the operator-controlled device, monitoring response signals received in response to the intermittent signals, and continuing activation of the power-operated vehicle component until the activation is complete so long as the response signals are received responsive to the monitoring.
