Novel electric vehicles are disclosed herein. In addition, a control system for an electric vehicle comprising a plurality of vehicle corner modules (VCMs) comprises a network of VCM-controllers. Each VCM comprises at least two subsystems selected from a drive subsystem, a steering subsystem, and a braking subsystem. Each VCM-controller is onboard and installed within a different respective VCM, and is operatively linked to each one of the at least two subsystems of its respective VCM to receive sensor data and to regulate operation in response to incoming signals received from outside its VCM. The control system provides a no-fault operating mode defined by the absence of a control-system fault. A VCM-controller of a first VCM is programmed to control, when operating in the no-fault operating mode, at least one subsystem in a second VCM.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for allocating cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) radio transmission resources for transmitting messages in a C-V2X network from amongst a pool of initial resources from within a plurality of subframes. For each subframe in the plurality of subframes, it is determined whether transmitting in the subframe is likely to cause reception degradation with other C-V2X messages being transmitted in the network, and if yes, all resources in the subframe are excluded prior to allocating a resource for transmission.

Control systems for vehicle corner modules and methods of operation

Apparatus for V2X communications comprising an application layer configured to analyze a high-risk scenario involving a self-vehicle and other vehicles, an access or network layer configured to ensure reception of messages broadcast by the self-vehicle by requesting acknowledged only from vehicles identified as involved in the high-risk scenario, and an interface connecting the application layer to the access or network layer for carrying results of the analysis of the high-risk scenario and the identification of involved vehicles. In an exemplary method of use, a self-vehicle performing identifies vehicles involved in a high-risk scenario, broadcasts one or more times a first message that can prevent or mitigate the high-risk, requests acknowledgement for the first message from only the identified vehicles, and rebroadcasts the first message if acknowledgement is not received from all the identified vehicles before a predetermined condition is fulfilled.
