An exhaust-gas turbocharger () having a compressor () which has a compressor housing (); a turbine () which has a turbine housing (); and a compressor-side and/or turbine-side charge pressure regulating device () which has a shut-off element () which opens or closes a flow opening (). The shut-off element () is in the form of a slide which is mounted on a guide () so as to be longitudinally displaceable along a longitudinal central line (LM) of the guide (), and the flow opening () is arranged at least substantially at a right angle (&#x3b1;) with respect to the longitudinal central line (LM) of the guide ().
