Apparatus and methods are described for use of a sensor for monitoring a subject generate a sensor signal in response to the monitoring. Also disclosed is a computer processor to analyze the signal, and in response thereto, identify a correspondence between positions of the subject and occurrences of health events of the subject, and generate an output on the output device, in response to the identified correspondence. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods for monitoring a subject

Apparatus and methods are described including identifying that a subject suffers from sleep apnea. Positive airway pressure (PAP) is applied to the subject via a mask placed on a face of the subject. A respiratory-related parameter of the subject is sensed, while the mask is on the face of the subject, and a need of the subject for respiratory support is assessed, responsively to the respiratory-related parameter. In accordance with the assessed need, the mask is configured to regulate the PAP provided to the subject's face. Other applications are also described.

Monitoring, predicting, and treating clinical episodes

Apparatus and methods are described for monitoring a subject. A sensor monitors the subject and generates a sensor signal in response thereto and a plurality of filters are used to filter the sensor signal using respective filter parameters. A computer processor receives the sensor signal, filters the signal with each of two or more of the filters, and in response to a quality of each of the filtered signals, selects one of the plurality of filters to filter the sensor signal. Subsequently, the computer processor detects that the subject has undergone motion, by analyzing the sensor signal, and in response thereto, filters the signal with each of two or more of the filters, and in response to a quality of each of the filtered signals, selects one of the plurality of filters to filter the sensor signal. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods are described, including a method for detecting an onset of a hypoglycemia episode in a subject. One or more critical parameters for hypoglycemia are monitored without contacting the subject. A variation of at least one of the critical parameters is detected, and an alarm is activated when at least one of the critical parameters deviates from an accepted value. Other applications are also described.

Monitoring a condition of a subject

Apparatus is provided, including a sensor configured to sense motion of a subject and generate a motion signal in response thereto. The apparatus includes an output unit and a control unit. The control unit is configured to: (a) analyze the motion signal, (b) at a first time, determine that the motion signal is indicative that the subject is likely sleeping, (c) at a second time following the first time, determine that the motion signal is indicative that the subject is likely no longer sleeping, and (d) in response thereto, drive the output unit to alert a clinician if the subject is at an increased risk for falling out of a bed. Other applications are also described.
