An improved plunger for a self-locking pin having a plunger section and a base section in a unitary one-piece construction, wherein the plunger section is at least substantially orthogonal to the base section. Wherein the base section comprises at least a substantially planar configuration, and may provide for biasing of the plunger section. A portion of the plunger extends outwardly from a bore of the self locking pin in which the plunger resides. The plunger section is preferably wedge-shaped, or may possess other geometrical shapes, while the portion of the plunger disposed inside the bore is of a cylindrical shape. An extended biasing section tor positioning of the plunger section may be in unitary construction with the base section.

Formed plunger apparatus

A self-locking pin having a shaft, a headed end, and plunger biased in a bore in the pin. The portion of the detent or plunger that extends outwardly from the bore may be wedge-shaped, or possess other geometrical shapes, while the portion of the plunger disposed inside the bore is of a cylindrical shape or other geometrical shapes. The plunger comprises a plunger section and a biasing section in a unitary one-piece construction. At least one transition ledge is defined on the plunger. The shaft is staked at points along the perimeter of the bore so that the inwardly extending surface created by the staking abuts the transition ledge and prevents the plunger from rotating or being removed from the bore.

A locking pin is provided for securing movable mechanical components, and includes a tubular body defining an axial passageway. The tubular body has an actuating end and a tapered working end opposite the actuating end, and has at least one latch opening proximate the working end. The pin has a spindle constructed and arranged for reciprocation in the passageway, as well as at least one locking element, each positioned within the passageway at a corresponding latch opening, and being urged toward the corresponding latch opening by the spindle. A cap is fastened to the working end for restricting entry of contaminants into the passageway.

A cotter formed from a single piece of wire including a free end, first and second gripping portions, a helical section and a locking leg. The cotter may be installed on a pin having an opening by grasping either, oppositely disposed gripping portion. The arrangement of the locking leg and a helical section formed therein allows for easy installation but requires a compound motion for removal of the cotter.

Bow tie locking cotter

A retaining mechanism or lanyard for retaining a connecting member proximate to a point of connection. A flexible elongated member has an eyelet or loop on a first end, a connector having a connecting pin on the opposite end and a receptacle in between. The connecting member is placed between the connector and receptacle after which the connector is snap fit into the receptacle. The lanyard has unitary construction from a plastic material and requires no additional components during fabrication.
