A surgical stapling device for sequentially applying a plurality of fasteners to body tissue and simultaneously incising tissue is provided. The surgical stapling device is adapted to receive disposable loading units having staples in linear rows whose length can be between about 30 mm and 60 mm. The disposable loading unit includes a proximal body portion, a mounting assembly and a tool assembly. The mounting assembly is secured to the proximal end of the tool assembly and pivotally mounted about a pivot axis to the distal end of the proximal body portion. A support member or blow-out plate assembly is positioned on opposite sides of the pivot axis and extends between the proximal body portion and the mounting assembly.

Surgical stapling device

A shaft assembly of an apparatus for applying surgical clips to body tissue includes an elongated spindle, a trip block reciprocally supported on a proximal portion of the spindle, a biasing member extending between the proximal portion of the spindle and the trip block, and a pusher bar having a proximal portion fixedly coupled to the trip block. The pusher bar has a distal portion configured to load a distal-most surgical clip into a pair of jaws during distal movement of the trip block, via distal movement of the spindle, and remain in a distally advanced position during an approximation of the pair of jaws.

A hub assembly for use with an endoscopic assembly of a reposable surgical clip applier includes an outer housing defining a channel therethrough, a driver gear slidably disposed within the channel, a transmission gear slidably and rotatably supported within the channel, and a display gear slidably and rotatably supported within the channel. Each of the driver gear, transmission gear, and display gear is configured for reciprocal movement within the channel. Distal advancement of the driver gear causes a corresponding distal advancement of the transmission gear and distal advancement of the transmission gear causes a corresponding distal advancement of the display gear. The transmission gear is caused to the rotated in a first direction during each distal advancement of the driver gear and the display gear is caused to be rotated in the first direction during a predetermined distal advancement of the transmission gear.

Endoscopic reposable surgical clip applier

A shaft assembly of an apparatus for applying surgical clips to body tissue includes a pair of jaws movable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position, an elongated spindle, a shaft, a slidable member, and a pusher bar fixed to the slidable member. The slidable member is movable through longitudinally-extending channels of the spindle and the shaft. The pusher bar is configured to load a distal-most surgical clip into the pair of jaws during distal movement of the slidable member, via distal movement of the spindle, and remain in a distally advanced position during approximation of the pair of jaws.

A surgical stapling device includes a body portion, a tool assembly, a mounting assembly, a retaining member, and an articulation member that is coupled to the tool assembly for articulating the tool assembly in relation to the body portion. The retaining member is engaged with the articulation member to prevent movement of the articulation member until the articulation member is actuated.

A pivot mechanism for use with a surgical device includes a first jaw member, a second jaw member, and a pivot pin. The first jaw member includes at least one circular aperture. The second jaw member includes at least one square-like aperture. The pivot pin is configured to engage the at least one circular aperture of the first jaw member and the at least one square-like aperture of the second jaw member such that the first jaw member is pivotably coupled to the second jaw member.

An apparatus for injection molding includes at least one mold part having at least one surface. The mold part has at least one shaped portion. At least one substantially closed cavity region is disposed within the at least one surface. The one cavity region is designed for molding at least part of an interstitial mass. The apparatus further includes at least one gate disposed on the at least one surface for providing fluid communication to the at least one cavity region and at least one flow restrictor positioned on the mold part for initially directing flow of the interstitial mass to the at least one shaped portion. In one embodiment, flow restrictors initially direct the interstitial mass to an upper portion of the shaped portion.

Preferably, a protrusion is provided in the proximal body portion of the disposable loading unit at a position to frictionally engage an articulation link. Engagement between the protrusion and the articulation link retains the articulation link at a fixed position within the proximal body portion to maintain the tool assembly in a desired orientation until a predetermined axial force is applied to the articulation link. The disposable loading unit also preferably includes a locking member which is operably connected to the axial drive assembly. The locking member provides an audible and/or tactile indication that the device has been actuated.
