A method includes receiving a bitstream of coded information for a sequence of pictures, the coded information indicates an inter prediction of a current block in a current picture using a formular based inter prediction technique, the formular based inter prediction technique generates a prediction sample of the current block based on a formular with reconstructed samples of a reference block in a reference picture being input to the formular, the formular includes parameters derived based on a current template of the current block and a reference template of the reference block. The method also includes constructing a candidate list including one or more coded blocks associated with the current block, a coded block in the one or more coded blocks is a candidate that provides formular based inter prediction information.

On list construction of coded information of inter prediction

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a video bitstream includes a current image frame having a current coding block and signals a first syntax element for a residual template cross-component residual model (RT-CCRM) mode. When the RT-CCRM mode is enabled, the computing system identifies, in the current coding block, a first chroma sample and one or more luma samples corresponding to the first chroma sample, determines one or more residuals of the one or more luma samples in the current coding block, and applies a residual filter corresponding to the RT-CCRM mode to generate a first residual of the first chroma sample based on the residuals of the one or more luma samples. The computing system reconstructs the current image frame by compensating a predicted chroma sample with at least the first residual to reconstruct the first chroma sample.

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream that includes encoded video data; obtaining information indicating two or more different clipping ranges for the encoded video data; deriving the two or more different clipping ranges based on the obtained information; performing a first clipping operation on a first portion of the encoded video data based on a first clipping range of the two or more different clipping ranges; and performing a second clipping operation on a second portion of the encoded video data based on a second clipping range different from the first clipping range.

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream that includes encoded video data and one or more syntax elements indicating one or more clipping ranges. The method includes deriving, based on the one or more syntax elements, the one or more clipping ranges for a portion of the encoded video data. Each of the one or more clipping ranges modifies a range of sample values of the received video bitstream. The method includes performing one or more clipping operations on the encoded video data using the derived one or more clipping ranges.

Adaptive range for clipping processes for video and image compression

The disclosure includes methods and apparatuses that includes processing circuitry that derives a chroma prediction mode of a chroma block in a chroma coding region based on luma coding information of a luma block associated with a position in a reconstructed luma area that is collocated with the chroma block. The chroma coding region is partitioned separately from a collocated luma coding region including the reconstructed luma area. The luma coding information indicates that the luma block is coded with a first coding mode using a first luma BV (an IBC mode or an IntraTMP mode) and a second coding mode. The processing circuitry derives a chroma BV of the chroma block based on a luma BV of the luma block and reconstructs the chroma block based on the chroma prediction mode including the first coding mode and the second coding mode.

Aspects of the disclosure include methods and an apparatus for video coding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that receives coded information of a current block in a current picture. The current block is coded with a first intra prediction mode that is different from a plurality of intra prediction modes including a DC mode, a Planar mode, and angular intra prediction modes. A candidate block in the current picture coded by an intra prediction mode different from the plurality of intra prediction modes is selected. If the candidate block is located within a pre-defined region, a second intra prediction mode is derived from the plurality of intra prediction modes for the candidate block. The second intra prediction mode is associated with the current block and is used to select a transform for the current block and/or to construct a most probable mode (MPM) list for another block.

Processing circuitry receives a coded video bitstream comprising coded information of a current block in a current picture, the coded information is indicative of an AMVP-merge mode, the AMVP-merge mode uses a bi-directional predictor including an AMVP predictor in a first direction and a merge predictor in a second direction. The processing circuitry constructs an AMVP candidate list that includes a plurality of AMVP candidates for the AMVP predictor and constructs a merge candidate list that includes a plurality of merge candidates for the merge predictor. The merge candidate list includes an SbTMVP candidate. The processing circuitry determines the AMVP predictor from the AMVP candidate list, determines the merge predictor from the merge candidate list, and reconstructs the current block according to a combination of a first prediction according to the AMVP predictor in the first direction and a second prediction according to the merge predictor in the second direction.

Aspects of the disclosure includes methods and apparatuses. One of the apparatuses includes processing circuitry that is configured to receive a bitstream of a current block in a picture. The bitstream includes coding information indicating that the current block is coded according to a prediction mode with a block vector (BV). The processing circuitry determines a reference block in the picture based on the BV of the current block. The reference block and the current block have an overlapped region. The reference block includes both (i) unreconstructed samples in the overlapped region and (ii) reconstructed samples that are outside the overlapped region. The processing circuitry reconstructs the overlapped region in the current block based on the reconstructed samples in the reference block that are outside the overlapped region. In an example, a width of the overlapped region and a height of the overlapped region are multiples of 4.

An example method of video coding includes receiving a video bitstream that includes a plurality of blocks and a plurality of quantized transform coefficients. The method includes deriving a dequantized transform coefficient for a first quantized transform coefficient of the plurality of quantized transform coefficients. The method also includes obtaining an adjusted transform value by applying an offset value to the dequantized transform coefficient, the adjusted transform value based on a quantized transform coefficient level and a current state of dequantization. The method further includes reconstructing a first block using the adjusted transform value.

Systems and methods for dependent quantization based on current dequantization states

Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses, for video decoding and encoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry configured to receive an image/video comprising one or more blocks and metadata for a machine task associated with the image/video. The metadata specifies neural network post-filtering characteristics for machine consumption. The processing circuitry decodes a first post-filtering parameter in the image/video corresponding to the one or more blocks to be reconstructed. The first post-filtering parameter applies to a block in the one or more blocks and has been updated by a post-filtering module in a post-filtering neural network (NN) that is trained based on a training dataset and the metadata. The processing circuitry determines the post-filtering NN in a video decoder corresponding to the one or more blocks based on the first post-filtering parameter, and decodes the block based on the determined post-filtering NN corresponding to the block and the metadata.
