In a method for determining touch applied to an electronic device, ultrasonic signals are emitted from an ultrasonic sensor. A plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals from a finger interacting with the ultrasonic sensor is captured. A first data based at least in part on a first reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals is compared with a second data based at least in part on a second reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals. A signal change due to a change in a feature of the finger during a touch interaction with the ultrasonic sensor is determined based on differences between the first data and the second data. A touch applied by the finger to the electronic device is determined based at least in part on the signal change due to the change in the feature of the finger.

Determining touch applied to an ultrasonic sensor

In a method for operating a fingerprint sensor including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers and a presence sensor, the presence sensor proximate the fingerprint sensor is activated, where the presence sensor is for detecting interaction between an object and the fingerprint sensor. Subsequent to detecting interaction between an object and the fingerprint sensor at the presence sensor, a subset of ultrasonic transducers of the fingerprint sensor is activated, the subset of ultrasonic transducers for determining whether the object is a human finger, where the subset of ultrasonic transducers is proximate the presence sensor such that the subset of ultrasonic transducers and the presence sensor can concurrently interact with the object.

In a method for determining whether a finger is a real finger at an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a sequence of images of a fingerprint of a finger are captured at an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, wherein the sequence of images includes images captured during a change in contact state between the finger and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. A plurality of transient features of the finger is extracted from the sequence of images. A classifier is applied to the plurality of transient features to classify the finger as one of a real finger and a fake finger. It is determined whether the finger is a real finger based on an output of the classifier.

In a method for determining touch applied to an electronic device, ultrasonic signals are emitted from an ultrasonic sensor. A plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals from a finger interacting with the ultrasonic sensor is captured. A first data based at least in part on a first reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals is compared with a second data based at least in part on a second reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals. A signal change due to a deformation of the finger during a touch interaction with the ultrasonic sensor is determined based on differences between the first data and the second data. A touch applied by the finger to the electronic device is determined based at least in part on the signal change due to the deformation.

In a method for modeling a darkfield candidate image at a sensor, a plurality of darkfield images of the sensor is captured, wherein each darkfield image of the plurality of darkfield images is associated with a different operational condition of the sensor. An operational condition of the sensor is determined. A darkfield candidate image comprising a combination of the plurality of darkfield images is modeled based at least in part on the operational condition of the sensor, wherein a contribution of each darkfield image of the plurality of darkfield images is dependent on the operational condition.

In a method for determining force applied to an ultrasonic sensor, ultrasonic signals are emitted from an ultrasonic sensor. A plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals from a finger interacting with the ultrasonic sensor is captured. A first data based at least in part on a first reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals is compared with a second data based at least in part on a second reflected ultrasonic signal of the plurality of reflected ultrasonic signals. A deformation of the finger during interaction with the ultrasonic sensor is determined based on differences between the first data based at least in part on the first reflected ultrasonic signal and the second data based at least in part on the second reflected ultrasonic signal. A force applied by the finger to the ultrasonic sensor is determined based at least in part on the deformation.

Determining force applied to an ultrasonic sensor

The device enables strains of at least one surface () of a sample () to be measured versus temperature. Strains in a direction perpendicular to a predetermined plane, for example the plane of the surface (), are measured by composite images. Strains in said plane are measured by image correlation. The measurements by image correlation and by composite images use a common visible light detection camera (). The sample () is arranged in an enclosure () transparent at least locally to visible light (L). At least one infrared emitter () enables an infrared light to be created in a spectral band for a large part not detected by the camera ().
