An apparatus for reeling up strips, especially aluminum strips produced in a rolling casting plant, comprises a reel arranged axially rotatably by a drive in a path of the strip. This reel in the position for use is disengageably connected with the drive arranged on one side of the strip path and fixedly connected with a carriage frame arranged on the other side of the strip path. With the carriage frame the reel can be drawn out of the strip path. Close to the reel there is mounted a coil stripper provided with a drive.

Apparatus and method for reeling up strips

An apparatus for reeling up strips, especially aluminum strips produced in a rolling casting plant, comprises a reel arranged axially rotatable by a drive in a path of the strip. Appratus and method for reeling up strips

A process for driving and synchronizing rolls, in particular the rolls of a strip casting facility, is such that each roll is driven by a separate motor drive via gearing, and the turning speed of the motor is regulated. The synchronizing of the motor drives during idling of the rolls takes place via miter gearing coupled to the motors and a sliding coupling between these sets of gears in addition to a shaft connecting them; the synchronizing is undertaken via manual or automatic control of motor turning speed as a function of roll speed and roll diameter.

A device for adjusting the size of the gap between casting rolls wherein the rolls are situated in bearings in supporting frames which are a variable distance apart. At least one of the supporting frames features, at its corner regions facing the other frame, bearing plates having faces inclined at an angle (w) to the axis (A) of a spindle. Moveable adjusting blocks are provided with wedge-shaped surfaces which rest against the inclined faces. Each of the adjusting blocks feature teeth which mate with threads on a spindle, the threads running counter to each other. As the spindle is rotated the blocks are moved either toward or away from each other thus raising or lowering the at least one supporting frame.

A device for casting metal strip is such that molten metal is fed via a nozzle into a gap between two rolls of a roll type continuous casting unit. The nozzle (4) is mounted on a nozzle beam (6) which is in turn mounted on a slide (34), the latter (34) being moveable in direction (x) by means of a power drive (37). Provided on both sides of the slide (34) are handwheels (40) which permit movement of the slide also at an angle to direction (x). The nozzle beam (6) is moveably mounted on a supporting section (7) which is connected to the slide (34) via a frame (33), the height of which frame (33) being adjustable via a ratchet type facility (41) or the like with suitable gearing and linkage facilities.

A device for manufacturing metal strips by the roll casting process and having at least two rolls mounted in bearings in supporting frames is such that the supporting frames (5a and 5b) are connected by pre-tensioning facilities (E) each of which comprises a hydraulically or pneumatically powered cylinder-piston system. The said pre-tensioning facilities are mounted at one end on a pedestal base (10) running under the frame (5b) and at the other end on a cross beam (15) extending over the other supporting frame (5a).
