A hydraulic amplifier valve assembly having an input end (where, for example, a brake pedal force may be applied) and an ouput end includes a valve housing and an amplifier piston which is slidably received in the housing only along that end portion which is oriented towards the input end. The other terminal length portion of the amplifier piston which is oriented towards the ouput end continuously projects from the valve housing and carries a pressure conduit nipple and a return conduit nipple. The valve housing is a sheet metal construction formed of a plurality of interconnected elements. This housing includes an outer, rotationally symmetrical, generally cup-shaped sheet metal housing shell and a sheet metal inner cylinder sleeve which extends inside the housing shell coaxially therewith and at a radial distance therefrom, approximately over the entire length of the housing shell. The input-side end of the cylinder sleeve is connected to the housing shell in such a manner that an annular space, which is hermetically sealed towards the input end, is defined between the housing shell and the cylinder sleeve. The amplifier piston has a tubular portion which is open towards the input end and which is slidably received in the annular space.

Hydraulic amplifier valve assembly

A pressure-unbalanced hydraulic amplifier valve assembly has an axially slidable amplifier piston and a control plunger axially slidably arranged in the amplifier piston with a loose fit to permit a slight radial movement thereof in the amplifier piston. For providing a tight seal in the zone of control ports arranged in the amplifier piston, the control plunger is urged in that zone radially against the amplifier piston by a transverse piston continuously exposed to the system pressure. A pressure piston engages one end of the control plunger and is exposed to an external force (such as a braking force applied by a pedal) for axially displacing the control plunger. In order to eliminate undesired axial force components from the force applied by the transverse piston, a force-transmitting ball contacts the transverse piston and an inner wall of the control plunger forming a throughgoing axial bore and constituting an axially linear track for the ball. In order to eliminate undesired transverse force components from the force exerted by the pressure piston on the control plunger, these two components contact one another by means of mutually transversely arranged pins which are solely in a point contact with one another.

Unbalanced hydraulic amplifier valve assembly

An expansion hose having a central internal throttle element dividing the interior of the hose into two chambers, and an internal hose extending from the expansion hose inlet through one of the chambers and the throttle element into the second chamber. The portion of the inner hose within the first chamber has radial throttle passages, and the portion within the second chamber is imperforate.

An unbalanced hydraulic valve assembly includes a first plunger element slidably and transversely displaceably received in a second plunger element wth a loose fit; a work chamber; a pressure supply conduit provided in the valve assembly for introducing pressurized hydraulic fluid thereinto; a control port arrangement in one of the plunger elements in an asymmetrical relationship relative to the circumference of the plunger elements. The control port arrangement permits or blocks flow from the pressure supply conduit to the work chamber dependent upon the relative axial position between the plunger elements. A force transmitting member is supported in the second plunger element for displacement transversely to the direction of relative axial motion between the plunger elements. The force transmitting member engages the first plunger element and is exposed to pressurized hydraulic fluid for pressing the first plunger element against an inner wall face of the axial bore provided in the second plunger element. The first plunger element and the second plunger element are free from annular seals between themselves.

The invention relates to a motor-driven vane pump, and in particular to vane pumps for generating a vacuum used to operate a secondary unit of an automobile. The vane pump comprises a cast approximately bell-shaped pump housing in which a rotor is eccentrically supported. The rotor is rigidly connected with and driven by a rotor shaft, and carries a plurality of sealing vanes slidably mounted in guide slots provided along its periphery. A rotationally symmetrical driving bell surrounds the pump housing with play, and is rigidly connected with the rotor shaft, which sealingly passes through the bottom of the pump housing. The rotor shaft is thus supported on only one side in the housing cover which closes off the end of the pump housing opposite the chamber bottom.

A hydraulic amplifier having a housing provided with pressure and return conduits, an amplifier piston, and a control slide. The piston is slidably arranged in an axial bore of the housing and itself has a blind axial bore within which the control slide is arranged. The piston and slide together constitute a unit which is free of pressure equalization and which is provided with two sets of passages for selectively placing the face of the piston in communication with the pressure and return conduits, respectively, depending on the axial position of the slide in the blind bore of the piston. The passages are asymmetrical with respect to the peripheral surface of the slide and are so constructed and arranged that whichever set of passages is closed, the slide is pressed radially against the closed passage under the influence of certain pressure differences which prevail in the hydraulic amplifier. This makes it possible to construct the component parts of the hydraulic amplifier with relatively coarse tolerances.

Hydraulic amplifier

An oil separator in combination with an oil lubricated vacuum pump. The separator includes a hollow housing having one end disposed adjacent the suction opening of the pump and the other end adapted for attachment to a vacuum line. A valve seat comprises an internal surface of the housing, and a resilient elastic sealing element having a relatively low mass is positioned under tension on the valve seat between the seat and the suction opening. The sealing element permits a stream of air from the vacuum line to enter the suction opening of the pump while preventing oil from the pump from passing into the vacuum line.

A rotary vacuum pump is provided with a housing having a cylindrical chamber. A rotor having a plurality of slideably mounted vanes is mounted within the chamber by a shaft extending through an eccentric bore. Hydraulic oil delivered to the rotor under pressure urges the vanes against the chamber walls. Escaping oil lubricates and seals the vanes and also lubricate the rotor shaft.

The invention concerns an apparatus for tensioning restraining devices, such as safety belts. The tensioning is effected by a piston arranged to move within a cylinder when actuated by a pressure medium. A return stopping device is provided to maintain tension after actuation.
