A reference electrode with an in-situ modified porous diaphragm has at least one housing (), a first conductor element (), a modifying electrolyte which is capable of free-flow movement and is contained in the housing (), and a porous diaphragm () which establishes a liquid connection between the modifying electrolyte and a measurement medium (). The modifying electrolyte seeps out through the porous diaphragm during operation. The modifying electrolyte has a first component and a surface-modifying component which modifies the surface of the porous diaphragm () in situ during the passage of the modifying electrolyte. A method for modifying the porous diaphragm in situ is presented.

Reference electrode

The present application relates to a pressurized reference electrode and to a process for its production, said reference electrode comprising a chamber () which has a flowable reference electrolyte, and a portion of the wall of said chamber being formed from porous material () for contacting said reference electrode with a measuring medium, and said chamber being under overpressure, which is characterized in that the overpressure is generated in said reference electrode by introducing a gas or/and a liquid through said porous material of the wall in said chamber, or introducing said reference electrolyte into said chamber and closing said chamber under pressure.

Pressurized reference systems and process for their production

A polymer electrolyte for an electrochemical half cell, in particular for a reference half cell, contains a polymer which as a first monomer component contains at least one alkyl methacrylate. The alkyl methacrylate has a substituted alkyl group with from three to seven carbon atoms and at least two substituents. The aforementioned substituents are selected from the group comprising ORand NRR, in which R, Rand Rare selected from the group comprising hydrogen, methyl, and ethyl, on the condition that the substituted alkyl group contains the substituent OH at most once.

Polymer electrolyte, half cell for electrochemical measurements, and the use thereof

A pressure-resistant reference electrode for electrochemical measurements includes both a half cell and a primary current bridge, provided for closing an electrochemical contact between the half cell and a measurement medium, which current bridge contains a primary electrolyte. The half cell has a reference electrolyte and a lead-off element, dipped into the reference electrolyte, which are disposed in a half-cell chamber that is provided with a primary junction leading to the primary current bridge and is otherwise embodied as medium-proof. The half-cell chamber furthermore has a flexible wall region, which is embodied such that a pressure difference between the primary current bridge and the half cell can be compensated for essentially without convection by the primary junction.

Pressure-resistant reference electrode for electrochemical measurements

The invention relates to a polymeric electrolyte which is part of an electrochemical reference electrode and which is used in potentiometric and amperometric sensors. The polymeric electrolyte is a hydrogel which is stable in a large pH-range and stable against organic solvents.
