Described is a method of sorting a plurality of individually conveyed articles in groups in at least one sorting step in a suspension-type conveyor, the articles being introduced in substantially unsorted manner into a first conveyor circle and being delivered from said circle in sorted fashion to at least one second conveyor circle, with an identification source identifying every article to be conveyed individually. To be able to use such a method in a universal manner and to accelerate the sorting process, the articles are delivered in a partial quantity containing a predetermined number in a first sorting step, independently of the loaded state of the first conveyor circle, from the first conveyor circle to the second conveyor circle as soon as the partial quantity of articles to be sorted in the first sorting step has been identified on the first conveyor circle.

There is described a method of sorting a plurality of individually conveyed articles in a suspension-type conveyor apparatus, wherein the articles circulate along a first conveyor circuit in unsorted fashion and are transferred from there individually and automatically to at least a second conveyor path and arranged in groups. To make such a method more simple and less troublesome, it is suggested that the second conveyor path be designed as a second conveyor circuit along which the articles circulate and that an automatically switchable shunt be provided between the first and second conveyor circuits. Both, the first conveyor circuit and the second conveyor circuit, are closed loop and reversibly driven.

Sorting method

A spinning mill installation including an overhead conveyor system having rails for feeding and removing bobbins to and from at least one creel-less spinning machine. To provide the function of the absent creels, an array of rail elements is positioned above each spinning machine, the rail elements having detent mechanisms defining the locations of the bobbin stations, are provided in the overhead conveyor system. A cleaning device moves along an overhead rail and is provided with a driving device which also drives the bobbin carriers.

A suspension conveyor system for automatically conveying suspended conveyor carriages having a plurality of first rails disposed with their free ends in mutual transverse alignment along at least one transfer lane and at least one second rail disposed parallel with the transfer lane. A pallet travels on the second rail along the transfer lane and has at least one pallet rail, the path of travel of the pallet permitting a free end of the pallet rail to be selectively aligned with a free end of a first rail for the transfer of a conveyor carriage between the rails. A trolley is mounted for movement along the transfer lane independent of the pallet and control apparatus are provided for controlling movement of the trolley. A coupling device automatically couples and uncouples the trolley with the pallet to permit the trolley to travel together with the pallet or independently of it.

Suspension conveyor system

A conveyor system, in particular a suspension conveyor system, comprising at least two transport units adapted to be moved on rollers and interconnected by a disconnectable coupling, the coupling including two identically formed hooks which are each provided with a hook opening, one of said hooks being arranged by an associated base member on one of the transport units to be coupled and the other hook being arranged by an associated base member on the other transport unit to be coupled in such a way that their hook openings face each other, each hook being loaded by a spring and being connected to its associated base member by means of a hub for rotation about an axis coinciding with a centerline of the hub, each hub forming a locking member by, in a coupled condition, being adapted to be engaged by the hook opening of the hook not associated with said transport unit while the hooks, in an uncoupled condition, being adapted to engage each other, and to be rotated by this engagement under tensioning of the spring, when the two transport units being moved towards each other, until each hook opening faces on hub in order to allow the spring to rotate the hook opening into a locking engagement with the hub.

Conveyor system

A suspension conveyor wherein the driving force acts on casters of a carriage, comprises a drive-transmitting assembly having a resiliently deformable drag material with its rear side supported by a backup support. During drive-transmitting operation, the drag material is compressed between the carriage and the drive-transmitting member resulting in the exertion of a perpendicularly oriented force.

Described in a suspension conveyor system suitable for the use of conveyance units having two travelling rollers interconnected by an open yoke. The suspension conveyor system is universally applicable and capable of optimum adaptation to operating and space conditions in a given plant. To this purpose the system comprises changeover means selectively operable to tilt a conveyance unit to a left or right laterally suspended position or a center-suspended position to thereby permit for instance the radii of curved rail sections to be considerably shortened and particularly achieve a less complicated construction of required switches. In a preferred embodiment the switch is formed as an integral shaped member, so that the continuity of the rail circuit has not to be interrupted for guiding a conveyance unit onto selected branch rails.

A carrier devices is described for an overhead suspension transport system. The device has an angular carrier member with a first arm pivotally mounting a hanger bracket which is adapted to be supported on a rail system by means of rollers. A second arm extends in a substantially upright orientation, at least in its used position, and releasably supports, at vertically spaced positions, a plurality of rods for supporting goods to be conveyed. Each of the rods extends through a bore in the second arm to be lockably retained in the bore by one of its end portions, and it is constructed so that, when it is extracted from the bore, the end portion is extracted first. Each of the bores extends substantially parallel to the first arm.

Carrier device for an overhead suspension transport system

The present invention refers to a transport apparatus in particular for internal, suspension transport systems of the type including a runner rail system and roller sets having rollers interconnected by a depending member. The apparatus has rail-shaped carrier members for supporting, in a suspended condition, transport material on a carrier member support surface. The carrier members are releasably suspendable at both ends from the roller sets, via suspension rods connected to the carrier members at transversely extending pivot axles, and the roller sets rest on the runner rail system. The pivot axles are perpendicularly displaced relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier member to such an extent that the suspension rods can be folded into contact with a carrier member support surface by pivoting 90.degree.. Clamping grooves are provided on the pivot axles to secure the folded suspension rods. The carrier members include troughs to receive hooks of additional carriers, and toothed racks.

Transport means with a foldable suspension carrier

The invention relates to a conveyor apparatus, particularly for intra-plant and plant-to-plant suspension conveyance, comprising a conveyor rail system for the conveyance therealong of bridge-type carriers suspended at both ends from the conveyor rails by means of rollers connected to said carriers by brackets, and container means for the goods to be conveyed, said container means being suspended from said carrier by means of a carrier head releasably engaging said carrier from above. In order to enable said container means to be suspended from said rail system for conveyance or to be released therefrom, respectively, with a minimum of structural and labor expenditure, the carrier head is adapted to be released from the carrier by being lifted relative thereto and withdrawn in the longitudinal direction thereof. For use with container means in the form of containers equipped with ground-engaging wheels or rollers for conveyance over the ground independent of the rail system there are provided engagement and release locations, respectively, whereat a preferably relative movement between the carrier and the carrier head is positively brought about.
