A user virtual file system within a hierarchical storage system performs file handling. A user virtual file system scans, reads and analyses data or user behavior to create or modify at least one rule or metadata. The user virtual file system identifies logical or temporal relationships of files based on the at least one rule or the metadata. The user virtual file system groups identified related files in the at least one container. The user virtual file system moves the at least one container to different tiers of storage based on the at least one rule or the metadata.

File handling in a hierarchical storage system

A storage system in a clustered system may receive a first input/output (I/O) request. The storage system may include one or more storage nodes. Each of the one or more storage nodes may have a copy of a particular object stored thereon. The storage system may execute the first I/O request. Executing the first I/O request may modify data of a first object in a first storage node. The first object may be a copy of the particular object. The storage system may transfer the modified data of the first object to a master storage node. The master storage node may include a master object update descriptor list.

Facilitating power transactions

Responsive to receiving an identification of a new state identifier associated with the state of an object within a file from a child node, a master node updates a current state identifier for the object to the new state identifier in the master node. Responsive to a predefined user specification indicating that the new state identifier is to be broadcast to each remaining child node of a subset of child nodes in a plurality of child nodes that have a copy of the object, the master node identifies the subset of child nodes in the plurality of child nodes that have a copy of the object in the master node. The master node then broadcasts the new state identifier to the subset of child nodes that have a copy of the object.

In a data management system, examination of first data for malicious content by a malicious content scanner is initiated in response to a request to write first data to a data storage device. In response to the examination revealing no malicious content in the first data, the first data, a first signature representative of a version of the malicious content scanner at a time of the examination of the first data, and second data linking the first signature to the first data as read-only data are written to the data storage device.

A method for an encryption of a data stream is provided. The method includes: providing the data stream, providing at least two first random number generators having a first cryptographic strength, wherein each of the at least two first random number generators is switchable between states including a clocked state and a working state, and providing a second random number generator having a second cryptographic strength, wherein the second cryptographic strength is higher than the cryptographic strength. The method further includes switching the states of the at least two first random number generators using an output of the second random number generator and using an XOR-function for combining the data stream with an output of one of the at least two first random number generators, which is in the working state, such that a ciphered data stream is created.

Method and system for encryption of a datastream

A high-resolution magnetic encoder system includes a magnetic resistive sensor, a fixed suspension, and a mechanism. The magnetic resistive sensor is mounted to the fixed suspension above a magnetic medium having at least one magnetic track. The fixed suspension is attached to the mechanism, such as a housing, a substrate, and/or an electronic board. The sensor is adapted to perform a relative movement with respect to and in close contact to the surface of the magnetic medium. The magnetic medium may be protected by an overcoat layer. The magnetic resistive sensor may be Giant Magnetic-Resistive (GMR) sensor and/or a Tunneling Magnetic-Resistive Sensor (TMR).

A method of manufacturing a magnetic field sensor device in one embodiment includes applying a mask on a substrate, performing a wet etching procedure on the substrate for generating at least a first groove having tilted side walls, and depositing at least one layer of magnetoresistive material onto a section of the surface of at least a first tilted side wall of the groove. A method of manufacturing a magnetic field sensor device on a substrate having a plurality of tilted planar sections, each of the tilted planar sections having a surface normal angled with respect to a surface normal of the substrate is also provided. The method includes depositing a magnetoresistive layered structure positioned at each of the tilted planar sections of the substrate, wherein the tilted planar sections are oriented such that a direction of an applied magnetic field in at least one of an x-, y- and z-direction relative to the substrate is detectable based on field-induced resistance changes of the magnetoresistive layered structures.

A heat exchange system for blade server systems is disclosed, wherein said blade server system contains a plurality of server blades arranged in a blade center, wherein the heat exchange system comprises first heat sink associated to each of said plurality of server blades, and whereby the first heat sink are adapted to collect heat emitted from heat emitting devices on said associated server blade; means for transferring heat from the heat emitting devices to the first heat sink; and a liquid cooled second heat sink associated to said blade center, whereby said first heat sink are connected to said second heat sink by thermal coupling.

Heat exchange system for blade server systems and method

A magnetic sensor having at least a first and at least a second structure of soft-magnetic material that are spatially separated and define a first gap therebetween. The first and second structure of soft-magnetic material are adapted to form a gap magnetic field pointing in a direction substantially perpendicular to the elongation of the first gap in the vicinity of the first gap in response to an external magnetic field. Additionally, the magnetic sensor comprises at least a first magnetoresistive layered structure that is positioned in the vicinity of the first gap including inside the first gap and that is sensitive to the gap magnetic field.
