A system including an additive management system configured to oversee hydrate formation in a hydrocarbon extraction system, the additive management system including a flow meter configured to measure a fluid flow rate, a first sensor configured to measure at least one of a fluid property and an environmental condition, and a chemical injection device configured to inject a hydrate inhibitor into a fluid flow.

Additive management system

An assembly for monitoring particulate in a production fluid. The assembly supports routing of production fluid through a restriction and to a strategically located detector downstream and adjacent the restriction. Further, the detector incorporates acoustic attenuating features to provide a tailored detection focused on acoustics directly from particulate in the fluid. These features may include the use of a transducer housing with a ribbed profile to achieve the attenuation. Although, other types of attenuating techniques may be employed.

Oilfield production particulate monitoring assembly

A sensor for monitoring COin a fluid regardless of the phase properties of the fluid, i.e., regardless of whether the fluid contacting the window is a liquid water-based phase, a liquid oil-based phase, a mixture of liquid water and liquid oil-based phases, or a gas phase. The sensor includes an internal reflection window for contacting with the fluid. A mid-infrared light source directs a beam of mid-infrared radiation into the window and the beam is internal reflected at an interface between the window and the fluid. The reflected beam is passed through three narrow bandpass filters which preferentially transmit mid-infrared radiation over bands of wavelengths corresponding to absorbance peaks of water, oil and CO. The amount of COis determined from the intensities of the mid-infrared radiation passing through the three filters.

An impeller blade that includes an impeller blade body constructed of a first material. The impeller blade body defines a leading edge that faces a direction of rotation. A second material couples to the leading edge. The second material is a more erosion resistant material than the first material. The second material extends over the leading edge a distance to absorb high angle impacts of droplets and/or particulate. A third material couples to at least a portion of the impeller blade body.

A sensor for monitoring a species which is a component of a fluid. The sensor includes an internal reflection window which, in use, is in direct contact with the fluid. The sensor further includes a mid-infrared light source which directs a beam of mid-infrared radiation into said window for attenuated internal reflection at an interface between the window and the fluid. The sensor further includes a first narrow bandpass filter which preferentially transmits mid-infrared radiation over a band of wavelengths corresponding to an absorbance peak of the species. The sensor further includes an infrared detector which detects filtered mid-infrared radiation transmitted through the first filter and a processor for measuring the intensity of the detected mid-infrared radiation transmitted through the first filter, and determines therefrom an amount of the species in the fluid.

A system including a controller configured to receive feedback from at least one sensor configured to monitor a fluid flow of a hydrocarbon extraction system. The fluid flow includes water and an injected chemical. Additionally, the controller is configured to determine a ratio of the injected chemical to water in the fluid flow.

A gamma densitometer window is provided along with a method of fabrication thereof. The window comprises a plate of non-metallic, preferably gamma transparent, material having a first face and a second face opposing one another and having an outer edge defined therebetween. The window further comprises a metallic frame member fitted around the outer edge of the plate and adapted to pre-load the plate with a compressive stress that is sufficiently high such that the sum of the compressive stress, tensile stress and shear stress components generated in the plate under high-pressure conditions is always compressive. The method of fabrication shrink fitting the metallic frame member around the outer edge of the plate at a shrink-fit temperature such that the metallic frame member applies a compressive stress to the plate at any temperature below the shrink-fit temperature.

Pre-stressed gamma densitometer window and method of fabrication

Properties of a multiphase mixture flow are measured in a blind-tee. The measured properties include the permittivity and/or the conductivity of the multiphase mixture flowing through a conduit. The permittivity and/or conductivity are measured at liquid-rich region(s) in a blind-tee section of the conduit and are used to determine properties of a liquid phase of the multiphase fluid flow, including one of the water conductivity, water in liquid ratio and water volume fraction. One or more electromagnetic sensors may be used in the blind-tee to measure the permittivity and/or conductivity. The sensors may be in contact with the multiphase flow or be disposed behind a dielectric window.

Measuring properties of a multiphase mixture flow

Methods and devices for measuring fluid properties include an electromagnetic sensor. The electromagnetic sensor includes a coaxial probe body having a first integral pressure barrier and a second integral pressure barrier formed from coaxial-feedthrough connector. The first integral pressure barrier and the second integral pressure barrier have a desired characteristic impedance.

A gamma densitometer window comprises a plate of non-metallic, preferably gamma transparent, material. A method of measuring the permittivity and/or conductivity of a multiphase fluid flowing through a conduit is provided. The method includes the steps of measuring the signal from a first electromagnetic transmitter to a first electromagnetic receiver separated by a first distance, measuring the signal from the first electromagnetic transmitter to a second electromagnetic receiver separated by a second distance, measuring the signal from a second electromagnetic transmitter to the first electromagnetic receiver separated by a distance substantially equal to the second distance, measuring the signal from the second electromagnetic transmitter to the second electromagnetic receiver separated by a distance substantially equal to the first distance, and wherein the first and second distances are substantially different. This is followed by the step of combining the four signals to obtain a measurement of the phase-shift and amplitude-attenuation substantially independent of the gain values applied to the receivers and transmitters to provide an estimate of the mixture permittivity and/or conductivity of the multiphase fluid.
